Bentley Expands Catalog With The Flying Spur Speed

Dustin Hawley | Sep 15, 2022

Completing its new portfolio of Grand Tourer’s, Bentley announced the release of the Flying Spur Speed, the most driving-focused variant of the Flying Spur luxury sedan family.

The Flying Spur Speed represents Bentley’s apogee performance model. Together with the Flying Spur Mulliner, the Flying Spur Speed is the vehicle of choice for customers who desire a W12-powered Flying Spur, as the standard Flying Spur W12 ceased production in May. The launch of the Flying Spur Speed rounds out the model range for Bentley and mirrors the existing Bentayga and Continental GT range.

Sitting a tier above the S model, the Flying Spur Speed delivers an improvement of 0.4 secs in its 0-60mph time, combined with an increase in top speed up to 207 mph. The Flying Spur Speed’s powertrain produces 664 lbs of torque, accelerating the car to 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds using the same 8-speed ZF dual-clutch transmission as the Continental GT. With standard features like Electronic All-Wheel Steering, Torque Vectoring by Brake technology, and Bentley Dynamic Ride, the agility of the Flying Spur Speed aligns with the performance of the 626 horsepower, 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged W12 engine.

The Speed’s styling cues adopt a familiar dark tint finish to the headlights, tail lamps, and front grilles with signature Speed badges on the lower wing. The unique 22” Speed wheel is a standard feature, with finishes including Dark Tint, silver-painted, and Gloss Black. Optional 22” Gloss Black or Pale Brodgar Satin sports design wheels are also available.

All-new performance infotainment graphics can be seen in the driver's information panel, drawing inspiration from the stylings of luxury timepieces. The luxury-first theme is apparent throughout the cabin, with front and rear seat comfort specifications including standard 24-way front and 14-way adjustment for the rear seats. Both driver and occupants can find comfort, being that all seats include heating, ventilation, massage, and two memory positions.

The Flying Spur Speed provides drivers with enhanced handling ability due to features including advanced active All-Wheel Drive, Electric All-Wheel Steering, and Bentley Dynamic Ride.

No pricing details have been revealed to date, but experts predict it will likely cost significantly more than the approximately $200,000 base V-8 model.
