Tesla Motors produces some of the finest EVs on the auto market - the Model S, Model X, and Model 3. These luxury EVs combine green technology, style, and performance. But how long do they take to charge? This is a key factor when you’re looking to buy any EV.

The time it takes for your Tesla to charge depends on how much battery it already has and the charger or the charging station you use. Every Tesla comes with some basic charging gear, but there are considerably faster options, too. This means there’s a pretty wide range of charging times: average charging time for a Tesla Model X ranges from less than an hour to nearly a week. Let’s take a look now at different Model X charging setups and how long they take.
The Model X has a mobile charging cord and multiple adapters including:
Understanding the various types of Tesla chargers is essential to owning a Tesla. There are four kinds of Tesla chargers; three of them come with your Tesla, while the fourth one is a supercharger at Tesla Supercharger stations.
The slowest kind of charger available for Tesla Electric Vehicles is the NEMA 5-15. It plugs into a standard wall outlet and gives you a range of about 3 miles for every hour of charging for your Tesla Model X. If you are charging your Tesla overnight at home, use the Tesla NEMA 5-15 charger.
The 240-volt wall outlet socket, which we call the power plug socket, is the one we generally use for heavy electrical appliances. The NEMA 14-50 charger for Tesla plugs into these power plug sockets. The standard Tesla charger with a NEMA 15-50 connector will be able to charge the battery of your Tesla Model X in about ten and a half hours.
An upgrade from the standard charging cord comes with Tesla. It works as an at-home wall connector charging station. An electrician can help you install a wall connector to charge your Tesla Model X home. A wall connector can fully charge your Tesla Model X in six and a half hours.
The Tesla supercharging stations are spread across the country to aid you if you take your Tesla on a road trip. These supercharging stations are compatible only with Tesla cars, and they can fully charge a Model X in under an hour.
The cost of electricity varies from state to state. This means that there isn’t a clear-cut answer for how much it’ll cost if you charge at home. Supercharger stations, though, have a fixed per-kilowatt cost of 68 cents. In most jurisdictions, using a Supercharger station will cost considerably more than charging at home. You do benefit from massively faster charging speeds, though,
The battery of your Tesla Model X takes anywhere between one hour to one hundred hours to charge. Exactly how long it’ll take depends on the type of charger you're using. Tesla’s Supercharging stations cost more to use, but deliver the fastest possible charging speeds.
