Tungsten is a chemical element taking the form of solid metal at room temperature. It is stronger than steel and titanium, durable, and resistant to corrosion and deformation. It is also rare and valuable, and now it signals the most luxurious version of the refreshed 2025 Ram 1500 pickup truck. Any inferences are purely intentional on Ram’s part.

The Tungsten joins a lineup that includes the Tradesman, Big Horn (Lone Star in Texas), Laramie, Rebel, Limited Longhorn, and Limited trim levels. Ram also has a replacement for the TRX performance truck coming, called the Ram 1500 RHO. It’s not as powerful as the TRX but offers much of the same capability thanks to a high-output version of the 2025 Ram 1500’s new engine.

You can tell the new 2025 Ram 1500 Tungsten apart from the other versions of the truck by its unique front styling and exclusive 22-inch wheels with a machined finish. In addition to its fancy grille and sophisticated headlights, the Tungsten has a front fascia instead of a traditional steel bumper, lending the most luxurious Ram a clean, upscale look.
Around the back, new taillights and a painted, body-color bumper continue the truck’s premium appearance. The power-operated tailgate features obstacle detection, and, like the previous year’s model, you can get RamBox locking bed storage and an optional split multi-function tailgate.

As you might expect, the Ram 1500 Tungsten’s interior is plush, reflecting the automaker’s improved attention to the truck’s surface textures, materials, and a greater sense of quality.
Within the Tungsten, Ram employs supple Natura Plus leather in an Indigo and Sea Salt color theme with Tungsten-patina stitching, artificial suede on the headliner and roof pillars, and diamond-stitched surfaces. Ram details the cabin in knurled metal, dual chrome trim, etched stainless steel, and carbon fiber. A badge on the center armrest is specific to each truck, showcasing the vehicle identification number with inlaid metal.
Ram fits the Tungsten with 24-way power-adjustable front seats with heating, ventilation, and massage. Rear passengers aren’t as well cared for but enjoy plenty of room in the standard crew cab.
Ram continues to offer a standard 3.6-liter V6 engine in the more affordable versions of this truck. However, the V8 engines are gone, replaced with standard and high-output 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder engines. Equipped with twin turbochargers, these “Hurricane” engines supply smooth, refined, and robust power.
In standard spec, the Hurricane inline-6 generates 420 horsepower and 469 pound-feet of torque, while the high-output version of the engine cranks out 540 hp and 521 pound-feet. According to the truckmaker, the 2025 Ram 1500 can tow up to 11,580 pounds and carry up to 2,300 pounds of payload.
Every 2025 Ram 1500 comes with an 8-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel or 4-wheel drive. Trucks equipped with the high-output twin-turbo Hurricane engine have a new rear axle with a limited-slip differential. An electronic locking rear differential and a four-corner air suspension are available.
Ram will offer two Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) on the 2025 Ram 1500 models.
The first is Active Driving Assist, which combines adaptive cruise control with lane-centering assistance for a hands-on, semi-autonomous driving-assist system.
The second is Hands-free Driving Assist, and I need to commend Ram for making this as crystal clear as possible. That name precisely describes what the technology does: provide hands-free driving assistance on pre-approved roads.
Hands-free Driving Assist adds a hands-free driving component to Active Driving Assist. If conditions are met, and the driver is paying attention, it allows hands-free highway cruising until conditions are no longer met. At that point, the driver must take control of the truck. Ram says it also proactively slows the truck for upcoming tighter curves and will automatically resume operation after the driver momentarily takes manual control.
Numerous new technologies are available on the 2025 Ram 1500.
Starting with infotainment, the Uconnect 5 system comes with an improved 12-inch or a new 14.5-inch touchscreen display. Both offer the same standard and available features as before but with enhanced illumination and resolution. In addition, Ram is now using Klipsch as a premium audio provider, and the Tungsten trim includes a 23-speaker high-end Klipsch Reference Premiere audio system.
In addition, the front passenger can now have their own 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and since the display is not visible to the driver, it offers HDMI connectivity to stream entertainment. In addition, it provides the passenger with access to camera system views, the navigation system, and connected device management.
In addition, the 2025 Ram 1500 offers a 12.3-inch digital instrumentation display, a 10-inch head-up display, and a camera-based digital rearview mirror. A dual wireless smartphone charger is also available.
New for 2025, a digital key that works via a smartphone app can unlock and start the Ram and lock it back up when you leave the truck. This feature includes a Near Field Communication smart card (like a credit card) to serve as a backup method, just in case.
The idea of a luxury pickup truck is relatively new, and the first ones wore Cadillac and Lincoln branding. Those trucks—the Cadillac Escalade EXT and Lincoln Mark LT—no longer exist, suggesting the target market doesn’t care about the emblems on the grille and tailgate as much as the substance behind the styling.
Based on first impressions, the 2025 Ram 1500 Tungsten offers plenty of substance. That positions it to credibly compete with similarly outfitted rigs like the Ford F-150 Limited, GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate, and Toyota Tundra Capstone.
