Ram shocked the truck world with its redesign of the 1500 full-size pickup in 2019, as it brought an ultra-plush interior, fantastic ride quality, and stunning tech. Though its competitors have mostly caught up, Ram now sees itself playing catch-up in the electric truck game, as its American rivals have either already released an electric pickup or have shown near-production-ready prototypes.

When it launches the new 2025 Ram 1500 REV electric truck, the automaker will offer it in five trim levels, including Tradesman, Big Horn/Lone Star, Laramie, Limited, and an ultra-high-end Tungsten model. The luxury-oriented Tungsten truck will have exclusive interior features, special badging, and a Klipsch Reference Premiere stereo with 23 speakers.
Two batteries will be available at launch, and a Ram 1500 REV XR with a "class-shattering" range will come later. Beyond the Ram 1500 REV, the automaker says it will electrify all its trucks in the coming years, so we'll likely see hybrid, plug-in hybrid, or fully electric pickups soon.

Ram showed a wildly futuristic concept when it first unveiled the truck, but the production version is much closer to everyday pickups. The automaker says the 1500 REV has an all-new face but is immediately recognizable as a Ram full-size truck. It gets tuning fork-shaped LED running lights and an illuminated RAM badge. The wheels come in 20- or 22-inch sizes and the hood shape helps maximize front trunk ("frunk") storage up front.
The top Tungsten trim gets a powered tailgate, and all versions get an EV-specific LED light fixture across the tailgate. The RamBox storage system holds a 115-volt power outlet in the pickup bed. The space is lockable and waterproof and offers drain plugs for easy drainage.

Ram says it focused on texture and colors for the truck's interior, noting that materials options include carbon fiber, leather, and metal. Images shared with the announcement show a fairly traditional Ram interior. The Tungsten trim shown features quilted leather upholstery and contrast stitching.
Buyers have two powertrain choices with the 2025 Ram 1500 REV, including the base 168-kWh battery with 350 miles of range and the available 229-kWh battery with a range of up to 500 miles. Their 800-volt architecture enables DC fast charging speeds that Ram says can recover 110 miles of range in 10 minutes. The truck brings vehicle-to-vehicle, vehicle-to-home, and vehicle-to-grid charging, which enables charging other EVs and powering a home or job site. A power panel in the bed can provide up to 7.2 kW, and there's another outlet in the frunk with 3.6 kW.
Ram says it is targeting a zero-to-60-mph time of 4.4 seconds with a powertrain output of 654 horsepower and 620 pound-feet of torque. Power comes from two 250-kW "electric drive modules," which house the motor, gearbox, and other components in a single unit. All-wheel drive comes standard, but the front wheels can disconnect to conserve power. That setup enables a tow rating of up to 14,000 pounds, a payload of up to 2,700 pounds, and up to 2 feet of water-fording depth. Four-corner air suspension, adaptive dampers, and a multi-link rear suspension are standard.
Beyond the traditional driver-assistance features, Ram will offer autonomous driving capabilities in the new Ram 1500 REV, such as a hands-free driving assistant and an automated parking system. The driving assistant requires the driver's attention and hands on the wheel but can position itself in the lane and among traffic with radars, cameras, and other sensors. The available head-up display includes information on safety systems, such as lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, adaptive cruise control, and speed limit assistance.
Ram made a point to deliver its maiden electric truck packed to the gills with tech. The REV is available with a 12- or 14.5-inch touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster running on Ram's excellent Uconnect 5 infotainment system. The available 10.25-inch passenger-side screen is a segment first, and the truck offers a full-color head-up display, rearview camera mirror, and Klipsch stereo. Passengers can view navigation information, images from the vehicle's exterior cameras, and plug in an HDMI device to mirror an external screen. The infotainment system features an array of EV-specific screens with information on power flow, range, driving history, and more.
When it arrives, the 2025 Ram 1500 REV will have a surprisingly crowded field of competitors. The Ford F-150 Lightning will be a few years old at that point but may receive a refresh before then. The Chevrolet Silverado EV and GMC Sierra EV will also be on sale. Finally, the Rivian R1T is a smaller, more upscale pickup that could appeal to lifestyle truck buyers.
