With the updated 2025 GMC Yukon full-size SUV, GM’s “Professional Grade” truck brand has refreshed its entire SUV lineup, rolling out new versions of the midsize 2024 Acadia and the 2025 Terrain compact crossover.

GMC offers the 2025 Yukon and extended-length Yukon XL in five trim levels: Elevation, AT4, AT4 Ultimate (new for 2025), Denali, and Denali Ultimate. Buyers can choose from a 5.3-liter V8 engine (standard on Elevation and AT4), a 6.2-liter V8 (standard on AT4 Ultimate, Denali, and Denali Ultimate; optional on AT4), or a six-cylinder turbo-diesel (optional on all trims). A 10-speed automatic transmission is standard. Four-wheel drive (4WD) is either standard or optional, depending on the trim.

GMC freshened the Yukon’s exterior for 2025, the automaker saying the SUV’s styling “exudes a muscular yet refined character.” Notable revisions include animated headlights and taillights, unique grille patterns, and new liftgate badging.
The new AT4 Ultimate features a front skid plate and 20-inch wheels with all-terrain tires. The top-spec Denali Ultimate sports 24-inch eight-spoke alloy wheels with laser etching in a first for the Yukon model line.

Like the exterior, the Yukon’s interior revisions for 2025 are modest but noteworthy. Most notable is the addition of a portrait-oriented 16.8-inch infotainment touchscreen display that comprises much of the center stack. Additionally, rear-seat passengers can control their climate settings from the available 8-inch touchscreen, located at the rear of the center console beneath two cupholders.
The new AT4 Ultimate features an Obsidian Rush interior with Ash Burl wood accents, leather rim steering wheel accents, and genuine leather for all three rows of seats.
Upgrading to the Denali Ultimate nets open-pore wood décor with laser-etched topographical patterns with chrome accents. Those riding in the front row of the Yukon Denali Ultimate get 16-way power seats with heat, ventilation, and massage functions. And, in a first for the Yukon, second-row passengers in the Denali Ultimate enjoy Executive Seating, which includes luxury captain’s chairs. Audiophiles will appreciate the Bose Performance Series audio system with up to 22 speakers.

The 2025 GMC Yukon is available with one of three engines. Standard on Elevation and AT4 trims is a 355-horsepower 5.3-liter V8 producing 383 pound-feet of torque. Optional on AT4 and standard on AT4 Ultimate, Denali, and Denali Ultimate is a 6.2-liter V8 making 420 hp and 495 pound-feet of torque. Available on every 2025 Yukon is a 3.0-liter Duramax turbo-diesel six-cylinder engine cranking out 305 hp and 495 pound-feet of torque.
A 10-speed automatic transmission is standard with all engines, and both rear-wheel drive (2WD) and 4WD are available. Maximum towing capacity measures 8,400 pounds for the Yukon and 8,200 pounds for the Yukon XL.
The new AT4 Ultimate comes standard with an adaptive damping air suspension that can raise the SUV up to two inches—something off-roaders and overlanders alike will surely appreciate. It’s also available as an option on other 2025 Yukons.

Buyers of the 2025 GMC Yukon will benefit from a handful of newly available advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) that come as either standard or optional equipment. New safety-related technologies include front pedestrian and bicyclist detection for the automatic emergency braking system, rear cross-traffic warning with automatic braking, side bicyclist warning, and intersection turn assistance.
Parent automaker GM’s proprietary Super Cruise hands-free driving technology is also available on the 2025 GMC Yukon. The automaker expects the network of U.S. and Canadian roads able to use the technology to increase to roughly 750,000 miles by the end of 2025. Further, GMC says Yukon owners with Super Cruise will be the first to enjoy hands-free trailering.
Speaking of trailering, the 2025 Yukon offers a handful of convenient technologies that make towing safer and easier, including Blind Zone Steering Assist, Transparent Trailer View, Trailer Reverse Trajectory, Trailer Tire Health, and Jackknife Alert.
Available for the first time on a GMC product, Night Vision helps drivers “see” pedestrians and animals in low-light conditions using thermal object detection. Alerts appear either in the head-up display or on the driver information center.

The GMC Yukon is one of a handful of competitors in the traditional full-size three-row SUV segment, straddling the line between non-premium and premium. Mass-market brand competitors include the mechanically similar Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, Ford Expedition, Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer, Nissan Armada, and Toyota Sequoia. Premium brand challengers to the Yukon Denali Ultimate include entry versions of the Cadillac Escalade, Infiniti QX80, Lexus LX, and Lincoln Navigator.
While the lower Yukon trims are nicely equipped, the Denali and Denali Ultimate are legitimate large luxury SUVs in terms of equipment and pricing. Indeed, a 2024 GMC Yukon Denali Ultimate with the optional 6.2-liter V8 retails for over $100K. That puts it directly in Cadillac Escalade territory.
