The Chevrolet Tahoe might play second fiddle to the brand's flagship Suburban SUV. Still, it's a compelling option that offers many of the same features and configuration options. Chevrolet gave it a complete overhaul for 2021, and the popular family hauler is getting a notable update for 2025 with a new look, more technology, and upgraded safety equipment.

Chevy offers the 2025 Tahoe in several configurations, including six trim levels: LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premier, and High Country. Three powertrains are on offer, with two V8s and a turbodiesel available. The full-size SUV features different styling elements depending on the trim, and the off-road-oriented Z71 package brings rugged styling with skid plates and all-terrain tires. The 2025 Tahoe goes on sale in late 2024, and pricing details will be available closer to launch.

Chevrolet revises the Tahoe's styling for 2025 with an updated front fascia that more closely aligns with its Silverado truck line. New wheel designs range up to 24 inches, and the 3-row SUV has updated lighting elements in the front and back. The Z71 trim adds skid plates and a cropped front fascia, providing better ground clearance for off-roading. The LED daytime running lights are thinner but brighter, thanks to an angled prism that better projects the light. Finally, the Premier and High Country trims have welcome and departure lighting animations and animated turn signals.

Chevy says the new Tahoe's interior feels more spacious and comfortable than before, thanks to a reshaped center console and better storage options. The sporty RST trim adds red contrast stitching, while the Premier brings black and gray accents. Love it or hate it, there's more piano black for 2025, and some versions get chrome interior trim. Chevy redesigned the dash to be lower and more driver-oriented, which it says provides better outward visibility and ergonomics.
A 5.3-liter V8 engine comes standard, making 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. A 6.2-liter V8 is available that produces 420 hp and 460 pound-feet. Chevy upgraded the 3.0-liter turbodiesel inline-6 for 2025, making 305 hp and 495 pound-feet of torque—improvements of 10 and 7.6 percent, respectively. All engines come mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission and either rear- or 4-wheel drive.
The Tahoe's previous update brought significantly improved ride quality, and Chevy adjusted its suspension for 2025 again. The automaker reworked its multi-link rear suspension for better ride quality and handling. It also recalibrated the steering to provide more confident control in various conditions. Air-ride suspension and Magnetic Ride Control are available.

Chevy Safety Assist comes standard on the 2025 Tahoe, bringing forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian and bicyclist detection, and more. The SUV is available with updated safety tech, including a new interior motion detection system, connected cameras, and more. Buyers can also add Super Cruise and a range of trailering technologies that make it far easier to pull a trailer in any condition.
As of this writing, neither the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) nor the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has crash-tested the 2025 Tahoe. However, the structurally similar 2024 model received four out of five stars overall from the NHTSA.
Screen sizes continue to grow in vehicles of all types. For the Tahoe, that means a standard 17.7-inch display and an 11-inch digital gauge cluster. The system brings features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth connectivity, SiriusXM satellite radio, and more. Chevy's infotainment system is easy to use and responsive, and the menus are simple to navigate while driving. Chevrolet will offer the SUV with numerous upgrades, including premium audio systems, navigation, and more.
The Tahoe's closest competitor comes from within its own house, as the Chevrolet Suburban presents the likeliest alternative. Buyers may eye the Ford Expedition or GMC Yukon, and luxury buyers can opt for the Cadillac Escalade or Lincoln Navigator.
