2014 Chevrolet Cars Overview

From bankruptcy to boom, Chevrolet continues to move forward with an assortment of new and improved cars for 2014. One example is the redesigned Impala sedan, which boasts updated styling, added safety and convenience features, and powertrain and chassis changes that Chevy claims make the 2014 model more efficient and enjoyable to drive than its predecessor.

Also making its debut is the all-new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. In addition to its completely revised appearance, the quintessential American sports car offers a rev-matching 7-speed manual transmission, aluminum frame, V-8 engine with cylinder-deactivation technology, and a multi-mode selector that allows drivers to control everything from the exhaust note to the suspension settings.

The Impala and Corvette Stingray are accompanied by a 2014 Camaro that's been updated with a new Z/28 model, revised front and rear styling, and interior upgrades; new Cruze Diesel model that Chevrolet claims will travel up to 46 mpg on the highway; refreshed Malibu sedan offering a new base engine, improved ride and handling, and slight styling changes; Chevy Sonic featuring a rearview camera and added safety systems; Spark lineup that now includes an electric model; and a more affordable Volt.

Last but not least is the all-new SS sedan, sourced from General Motors' Australian Holden brand. This rear-drive 4-door is equipped with a standard V-8 engine, sport-tuned suspension, and is the first Chevrolet to feature a hands-free park-assist system.

2014 Chevrolet Camaro

Serving as Chevrolet's direct competitor to the Ford Mustang, the 2014 Camaro has been updated with thinner headlights, wider LED taillights, updated instrumentation, and new options like front Recaro sport bucket seats. The familiar Z/28 name also joins the Camaro lineup, and marks the occasion with a 7.0-liter V-8 engine under its hood.

2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray

Chevrolet has completely redesigned the Corvette, which now bears the nostalgic Stingray moniker. Available in coupe and convertible body styles, the 2014 Corvette Stingray rides on an all-new aluminum platform, is equipped with a standard 455-horsepower 6.2-liter V-8 engine featuring cylinder-deactivation technology, and directs output to the ground via a rev-matching 7-speed manual gearbox or updated 6-speed automatic transmission. For 2014, the Corvette also offers a more refined interior, driver-selectable chassis settings, Chevrolet-estimated 29 mpg on the highway, power-operated soft top operable at speeds up to 30 mph, and a Z51 Performance package consisting of an electronic limited-slip differential, dry-sump oiling system, aerodynamic enhancements, and unique wheels and tires.

2014 Chevrolet SS

NASCAR fans recognize the all-new 2014 Chevrolet SS as the model driven by Dale Earnhardt Jr., Tony Stewart, Jimmie Johnson, and several others. In reality, a few headlight, taillight, and grille stickers are all that connect those racecars to the street versions available from local dealers. After an 18-year absence, the rear-wheel-drive, V-8-powered high-performance sedan returns to the Chevrolet lineup, and does so with 415 horsepower, 5-passenger seating, and a Chevy-estimated 0-60 mph time of roughly 5 seconds.

2014 Chevrolet Cruze

Chevy's compact sedan is expected to be redesigned for the 2015 or 2016 model year, but for 2014, the news is all about the new Cruze Diesel variant. Powered by a turbocharged, 4-cylinder diesel engine that delivers 151 horsepower and 264 lb.-ft. of torque, this Volkswagen Jetta TDI competitor offers an EPA-estimated 46 mpg on the highway.

2014 Chevrolet Impala

The full-size Chevrolet Impala sedan has been thoroughly overhauled for 2014, and now offers more contemporary styling, a choice of three engines including an all-new 196-horsepower 4-cylinder and 305-horsepower V-6, updated comfort and convenience technologies, and safety systems such as forward-collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, intelligent cruise control, and a rearview camera.

2014 Chevrolet Malibu

Like the all-new Impala, the updated 2014 Chevrolet Malibu's standard engine is the 2.5-liter 4-cylinder that delivers 196 horsepower and features a start/stop assist system to improve fuel efficiency. The eAssist hybrid powertrain is also available, as is a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that now boasts 295 lb.-ft. of torque. Buyers have the choice of LS, LT, and LTZ trim levels.

2014 Chevrolet Sonic

The 2014 Chevrolet Sonic subcompact is available in LS, LT, and LTZ sedan form, or as a 5-door RS model. Among the updates for 2014 are the addition of a rearview camera (standard on LTZ and RS variants), and a new LT Promotional package that includes Chevrolet MyLink, fog lights, and a power tilt/slide moonroof.

2014 Chevrolet Spark

Several new dealer-installed accessories are now available for the tiny Spark, including a roof rack, fog lights, and interior upgrade kits. Chevy has also made a continuously variable transmission (CVT) available for buyers searching for maximum fuel efficiency. However, the big news is the debut of the Spark EV electric model, which offers an EPA-estimated 119 MPGe (miles-per-gallon of gasoline equivalent) and 82-mile range.

2014 Chevrolet Volt
