Changes to the 2023 Maserati Models

Chris Teague | Dec 01, 2022

Maserati may be part of the Stellantis family of car brands, but the automaker is less familial than its counterparts. The company employs Ferrari engines in top-performance trims, and its cars are nothing if not thoroughly Italian in every way. The 2023 model year brings a new SUV model, a grand tourer, and an open-top supercar variant. The other half of Maserati’s lineup enters the new year unchanged.

The Maserati Ghibli carries over into 2023 unchanged, but updates in recent model years should help its case. In 2021, Maserati stuffed a Ferrari V8 under the hood, creating a new Trofeo trim. Even the car’s base twin-turbocharged V6 engine delivers 345 horsepower and a claimed zero-to-60-mph time of just 5.5 seconds.

2023 Maserati GranTurismo Changes - Find the best Maserati deals!

Maserati’s iconic coupe, the GranTurismo, is all-new for 2023. The automaker modified its Nettuno V6 engine from the MC20 supercar to create two versions of the GranTurismo: the Modena gets a 490-hp twin-turbo V6, and the top Trofeo gets a 550-hp version of the engine.

The GranTurismo will also become Maserati’s first 100-percent battery electric vehicle. The GranTurismo Folgore features 800-volt technology and three electric motors with 760 hp at the wheels. The car features a 92.5-kWh battery and new body construction that utilizes aluminum and magnesium to keep weight down and improve handling.

2023 Maserati Grecale Changes - Find the best Maserati deals!

The Maserati Grecale is a brand-new model for 2023 and slots into the automaker’s lineup beneath the Levante SUV. It comes in three trims, each with different powertrain outputs. The base GT gets a 296-hp 4-cylinder engine with a mild-hybrid system, the midrange Modena gets 325 hp, and the top Trofeo brings a V6 with 523 hp.

According to Maserati, acceleration can be as quick as 3.8 seconds from zero-to-62 mph (100 km/h), and the Grecale’s top speed is a claimed 177 mph in the Trofeo trim. Maserati says it will offer the Grecale with an electric powertrain in 2024.

2023 Maserati Levante Changes - Find the best Maserati deals!

The Maserati Levante rolls into 2023 unchanged, though it got an overhaul in 2021 that gave it a fresh face and better tech features. Four main configurations are available: GT with a 345-hp V6, Modena with 424 hp, Modena S with a 523-hp V8, and Trofeo with a 572-hp V8. Maserati says acceleration to 60 mph comes as quick as 3.8 seconds in the top Trofeo trim.

2023 Maserati MC20 Changes - Find the best Maserati deals!

The MC20 was all-new in 2022, and for 2023 Maserati is introducing a new open-top model. Called “Cielo,” Italian for Sky, the car features a glass roof, butterfly doors, and all the MC20’s stunning good looks. The car gets a twin-turbo V6 engine making 621 hp, which, according to Maserati, is good for a sub-2.9-second zero-to-60-mph time and a top speed of more than 202 mph.

2023 Maserati Quattroporte Changes - Find the best Maserati deals!

Maserati left the Quattroporte alone for 2023, but like the Levante and Ghibli, it got a refresh in 2021. For the 2023 model year, it gets the same engine lineup as the Levante, starting with a 345-hp V6 and topping out with a 572-hp Ferrari-derived V8.
