Despite being one of the newest automakers, Lucid has created some impressive vehicles with equally impressive price tags. Its first model—the Air sedan—offers incredible range estimates and high-end luxury. The electric-vehicle (EV) maker recently pulled back the curtain on its second model, the Gravity SUV. It brings many of the Air's design and technology elements with a projected range that exceeds 440 miles per charge and three rows of seating.

The new Lucid Gravity will be available in late 2024 with a starting price below $80,000. It will feature large interior screens, fast-charging capabilities, and a variety of driver aids. According to Lucid, the Gravity can accelerate to 60 mph in under 3.5 seconds and has one of the most aerodynamic shapes of any SUV on the market.

The Lucid Gravity borrows some styling elements from the Air sedan, including its front end, which features the same sleek look and shape. Lucid equips 20-inch wheels as standard, but buyers can opt for wheels up to 23 inches in diameter. The crossover SUV features a 0.24 drag coefficient, making it incredibly aerodynamic for a 7-seater, and its exterior dimensions make it slightly longer and wider than a Toyota Highlander. It measures 198.2 inches long, 78.7 inches wide, 65.2 inches tall, and has a 119.5-inch wheelbase.

The Gravity's cabin features large storage spaces, with up to 112 cubic feet of total cargo space. The second-row seats slide to open more legroom or cargo space as needed, and buyers can choose between "interactive wellbeing features" that include "Lucid Sanctuary" and "Lucid Spaces." The themes change interior lighting and sound elements to replicate the feeling of being in a forest or peaceful desert. The SUV also has guided meditation features that Lucid created in partnership with Meditopia.
Lucid has yet to nail down all the Gravity's specs but has promised more than 800 hp and a range exceeding 440 miles. The automaker will employ its 900-volt electric architecture, which enables super-fast charging speeds that Lucid says can add as much as 200 miles of range in 15 minutes. Lucid claims a zero-to-60-mph time of 3.5 seconds and says that the Gravity has a 6,000-pound tow rating and over 1,500-pounds of payload capacity. Air suspension is also available that provides adaptive damping and height adjustments for off-roading.
The Lucid Gravity will likely get driver aids similar to the Air sedan. That includes Lucid's Dream Drive driver-assistance tech, which brings a 3D surround-view camera, blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic warning, a highway driving-assistance feature, active parking assistance, and more. As of this writing, neither the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) nor the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has crash-tested the new Lucid Gravity, and they likely won't. Lucid is a relatively low-volume automaker, and its vehicles are exceedingly expensive to purchase, so the Lucid and many other models don't get tested by either safety group.
Lucid equips a 34-inch glass panel with two displays inside the new Gravity SUV. Wireless Apple CarPlay comes standard, and the automaker offers a 22-speaker audio system upgrade. Owners can interact with the vehicle through the Lucid app, which offers state-of-charge notifications, navigation directions, maintenance updates, and more.
The Lucid Gravity will have plenty of competition when it lands. The Tesla Model X has a similar starting price but will fall about 100 miles short of the Lucid on range if the company can pull off its estimates. Buyers may also look at the Audi Q8 E-tron and other high-end EVs, but so far, no automaker has been able to match Lucid's range.
Lucid is the source of information in this article. It was accurate as of November 20, 2023, but it may have changed since that date. Always confirm product details and availability with the automaker's website or your local dealership.
