Toyota released a new GR86 in 2022, finally giving the car the power and excitement it needed to be a true enthusiast’s machine. In 2024, the car is getting an AE86 Corolla-inspired paint job and other exclusive touches in the special Trueno Edition GR86.

The Trueno Edition gets a throwback paint job with white/black or red/black color schemes. It comes with unique side graphics and 18-inch, 10-spoke wheels. Toyota installs Trueno badges on the front bumper lip and rear decklid, and the car features blacked-out door handles and mirror caps.
Ultrasuede upholstery comes with the package, and the car gets a unique shift boot and leather-wrapped steering wheel. Red leather accents and red stitching complete the sporty cabin look, and the car retains its 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Toyota will offer a Performance package with Sachs dampers and Brembo brakes for the standard GR86, while the Trueno Edition gets the content as standard. Owners of earlier GR86 models from 2022 or 2023 can retrofit the package to their rides, though the cars must have 18-inch wheels already. Toyota says Gazoo Racing tuned the features specifically for the GR86 to maximize handling, comfort, and braking consistency.
The new 86 also gets a suite of active safety features for manual transmission-equipped models for the first time. The feature set includes automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, automatic high-beam headlights, and lead-vehicle start alerts.

Toyota hasn’t priced the 2024 GR86 Trueno Edition but says it will limit production to 860 units between manual and automatic transmission models. While pricing or specific release date details aren’t yet available, expect the Trueno Edition to command a premium over the base model. It’s also likely that, given its ultra-limited production numbers, the car sees significant markups over the sticker price when it lands on dealers’ lots.
