2010 Infiniti G37 SedanInfiniti's G Sedan was launched in 2003. The rear-wheel-drive (RWD) sports sedan was positioned as an alternative to the BMW 3 Series and Lexus IS. In contrast to its competition, the Infiniti sedan not only offered more interior space, but it also offered more horsepower with Nissan's VQ-series, 260-hp, 3.5-liter V-6 engine. The second-generation G35 Sedan arrived in 2007. Compared to its predecessor, it was larger, more powerful and even more luxurious. The V-6 engine in the new model had been refined for additional smoothness, efficiency and horsepower, but it still displaced 3.5 liters. The model retained its "G35" moniker. A new model designation arrived in 2009, when Infiniti fitted the larger, 328-hp, 3.7-liter powerplant which it shared with the G37 Coupe, and renamed the car the G37 Sedan. For 2010, Infiniti has treated the G37 Sedan to a mild styling refresh. Cosmetic changes enhance the interior and exterior, new equipment has been added, and there is additional standard content on some of the models.

Model Lineup

The 2010 Infiniti G37 Sedan lineup will include four models: G37 Sedan, G37 Sedan Journey, G37S Sport 6MT, and the G37x AWD. The G37 and G37 Journey are the standard models. The G37S Sport 6MT is the sportiest model, and it is only available with a 6-speed manual transmission. The G37x is the all-wheel-drive (AWD) version designed for inclement weather. All models feature power leather-appointed seating with aluminum interior trim as standard equipment. Automatic climate control (with micro-filtration) and Infiniti's Intelligent Key are also standard fare. The audio system offers 6 speakers with AM/FM, RDS, CD player, MP3 and an auxiliary input jack. XM satellite radio is also standard. New for 2010, Infiniti has added an 8-way power-adjustable front passenger seat and one-touch open and close windows to the standard equipment list. The Premium package includes options such as a power moonroof, Bose premium audio, heated seats, auto-dimming mirrors, and a 2GB Music Box flash memory music server (new for 2010). The Navigation package adds Infiniti's hard-drive navigation, 9.3GB Music Box, and a RearView monitor. For 2010, the Navigation package also gains Bluetooth Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) for streaming audio and DVD-video playback capabilities. The Sport package includes a limited-slip rear differential, magnesium transmission paddle shifters, and upgraded wheels and tires. Stand-alone options include the power moonroof, rear spoiler, and African rosewood interior trim.

Shared with the Infiniti G37 Coupe, Nissan's "VVEL" 3.7-liter V-6 engine is rated at 328 horsepower under the hood of the 2010 G37 Sedan. It is mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission or an optional, close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission. The standard driveline is rear-wheel drive, with the G37x AWD models boasting Infiniti's acclaimed ATTESA E-TS (Advanced Total Traction Engineering System for All Electronic Torque Split) AWD system.

The 2010 Infiniti G37 Sport 6MT Sedan models feature a standard, close-ratio lightweight 6-speed manual transmission. All other models, including the AWD Sedan, feature a new 7-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode via paddle shifters, downshift rev matching, quick-shift mode, and Adaptive Shift control.

The suspension on the 2010 Infiniti G37 Sedan is of a 4-wheel independent design with a double-wishbone front and a rear multi-link, both ends featuring stabilizer bars. The steering is rack-and-pinion, with vehicle-speed-sensitive power assist. Sport Brakes with larger rotors and more powerful pistons to increase the sedan's braking capacity are available on the sport models. The G37 Sedan offers a Rear Active Steering system on the Journey and Sport models. With the system activated, the rear wheels are designed to turn up to one degree to add stability during turns and cornering. Braking technology includes standard 4-wheel vented discs with anti-lock brakes (ABS), electronic brake-force distribution, and brake assist.

Driver and front passenger in all 2010 Infiniti G37 Sedan models benefit from advanced air bag technology including dual-stage front air bags, front-seat-mounted side air bags, and front and rear side curtain air bags (protecting all outboard passengers). Front seat belts are equipped with pre-tensioners and load limiters. Rear seats are fitted with the LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren) system. Standard active safety systems on the Infiniti G37 Sedan models include anti-lock brakes (ABS), Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) with traction control (TCS), and a direct-reading tire-pressure-monitoring system.

New for 2010 is Infiniti's Advanced Climate Control System (ACCS). It monitors the flow of air into the cabin and automatically shuts the outside vents if it detects exhaust fumes. In addition, it is fitted with a Grape Polyphenol Filter to remove airborne allergens from the cabin. To reduce (or help neutralize) airborne germs, the ACCS is also fitted with a "Plasmacluster" air purifier. This innovative air purifier uses negatively charged ions to help remove particulates in the air by electrically "charging" them. The "charged" particles (dust, pollen, mold spores, etc.) are then attracted to each other and clumped together. The clustered particles soon become too heavy to float freely and drop to the floor where they may be vacuumed up-reducing the chance they will be inhaled and cause irritations to the passengers within the cabin.
