The 2023 Hyundai Santa Cruz has once again turned heads and secured accolades, as it was named the most appealing midsize pickup by JD Power in its 2023 U.S. Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study. This marks the second consecutive year that the Santa Cruz has seized the top spot in its segment, demonstrating consumers' ongoing approval and satisfaction.
The Hyundai Santa Cruz's repeat success in the APEAL study is a testament to its compelling blend of advanced features and practicality, according to Olabisi Boyle, Vice President of Product Planning and Mobility Strategy at Hyundai Motor North America. Boyle emphasized how the vehicle effectively marries adventurous spirit with day-to-day practicality, thereby enhancing the overall driving experience for its users.

Conducted annually for the past 28 years, the APEAL study draws insights from 84,555 purchasers and lessees of new 2023 model-year vehicles. Participants are asked to assess their vehicle across 37 attributes, ranging from the thrill of the accelerator to the comfort of the driver’s seat. JD Power compiles the responses to calculate an overall APEAL score, measured on a 1,000-point scale. The 2023 study was fielded from February through May.
