Kia is in the midst of a massive transformation. It has a new logo. It has a new name for the U.S. market (Kia America). And it has a new electric crossover SUV going on sale in all 50 states in early 2022. To celebrate, the automaker will offer 1,500 examples of the 2022 Kia EV6 First Edition in a unique combination of appearance and equipment.

Starting on June 3, interested parties can request a reservation for the Kia EV6 First Edition on the automaker’s website. The EV6 First Edition combines standard EV6 design details and 20-inch wheels with a fully equipped level of specification. It also has dual-motor all-wheel drive and a long-range 77.4-kilowatt-hour battery providing 313 total system horsepower and acceleration to 60 mph in a claimed 5.1 seconds.
Unique color combinations for the EV6 First Edition include Glacier with green seats, Urban Yellow with black seats, and Steel Gray Matte with black seats. Urban Yellow is exclusive to the First Edition, and Steel Gray Matte is otherwise available only with GT Line or GT styling.
Equipment highlights include a numbered First Edition interior badge, illuminated First Edition door sill trim, and a long list of technology features. Highlights include a 14-speaker Meridian premium sound system, Remote Smart Parking Assist, and a head-up display with augmented reality that can project 3-dimensional images on the windshield.
Official recharging time for the 77.4 kWh battery is seven hours and ten minutes when using a Level 2, 40-amp, 240-volt charging station. The EV6 is compatible with 800-volt DC charging at 350 kilowatt DC fast-charging stations and can recharge from 10% battery capacity to 80% capacity (210 miles) in less than 18 minutes, according to Kia.
Kia also confirmed final cargo volume numbers for the U.S.-spec EV6, which measure 27.7 cubic feet behind the back seat and 53.5 cubic feet with the rear seat folded down.
Prices for the Kia EV6 First Edition, and the rest of the EV6 lineup, will be announced at a later date.
