One of the frustrating situations while driving on the road is having a flat tire. It could be avoided if there is a routine car maintenance task to check tire pressures and inflate them as necessary.

The good news is that modern cars have tire pressure warning lights, or tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS), that let you know when you have under or over-inflated tires. Your 2018 Honda Civic has a tire pressure warning light, but you probably don’t know how to reset it.
Before we delve into resetting the low tire pressure light on a 2018 Honda Civic, let’s find out what a pressure monitoring system is (TPMS).
TPMS, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, is an electronic system that monitors the air pressure inside individual tires on different vehicles, ranging from long-haul trucks to passenger cars like SUVs or motorhomes.
Your tire pressure monitoring system TPMS is an essential safety measure of the Civic, which is why it must always remain functional. The system helps you to maintain proper tire pressure when driving. TPMS notifies you when your vehicle’s tire pressure is low by reporting tire pressure information to the driver via a gauge, pictogram display, or a low-pressure warning light.
The TPMS light is an orange light that looks like a horseshoe with an exclamation point in the middle. The TPMS icons on the dashboard will light up when any tire is 25% under-inflated or has a low tire pressure. Some modern tire pressure monitoring systems can even automatically alert drivers via email or text alert. TPMS prompts the driver to inflate the tire to the proper level.
However, the TPMS system in Honda’s newest car models does not measure tire pressure as its older systems did. Instead, it counts the revolutions of each of the wheels. If a tire is low, the radius between the axle and the road will be smaller. The effective circumference will also be smaller. A smaller wheel must spin more times to go the same distance as a larger wheel. All the same, the TPMS still alerts drivers when tire pressure is low.
Follow the information below to reset the low tire pressure light on a 2018 Honda Civic.
First, check the tire pressure in all four tires and then fill the tires with air or replace faulty tires if need be.
Keep your Honda in parking mode and start the car engine. You can find the TPMS button on the dashboard left of the steering column. Then press and hold until the TPMS warning light blinks twice. The TPMS will now begin to re-calibrate, and the low tire pressure light should disappear.
When resetting the tire pressure light and there is no TPMS Button, select vehicle or vehicle Settings on your car’s multi-information display (MID) screen and then press the select/reset button. Move to select “TPMS Calibration” and then select “Calibrate.” The screen should read “Calibration Started.” The low tire pressure light should disappear at this point.
However, if resetting doesn’t help, try to retrace the outlined steps, as you may have done something wrong. But even if that’s not enough to solve the issue, some TPMS system components may succumb to wear and tear or malfunction. Here, you must visit the nearest auto shop for a qualified mechanic to take care of the problem.
TPMS, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, is an electronic system that monitors the air pressure inside individual tires on different vehicles, ranging from long-haul trucks to passenger cars like SUVs or motorhomes. It ensures enough air in the tires and helps you track the pressure levels.
When resetting the tire pressure light and there is no TPMS button, select “Settings” on your MID screen and then press the select/reset button. Move to select “TPMS Calibration” and then select “Calibrate”. The screen should read “Calibration started”, and the light should trouble you no longer.
However, if it stays on even after resetting, the real issue is likely a malfunction, and you should visit a qualified mechanic to take care of the problem.
