Infiniti Vision Qe Concept Preview

Chris Teague | Oct 26, 2023

With all the hype surrounding electric vehicles (EVs), it’s easy to forget that some automakers haven’t released their first one. That’s the case with Infiniti, whose parent company, Nissan Motor Co., saw significant delays with its inaugural EV. However, the brand recently showed off a line of concepts that preview a sleek electric future.

Infiniti Vision Qe Concept Shadow Blue Front Quarter View

The Vision Qe concept is a wildly futuristic sedan with unique lighting elements and a shape straight out of a video game. Following the brand’s “Artistry in Motion” design language, the car has sweeping lines culminating in a wild rear-end look with a slight ducktail spoiler and an illuminated Infiniti badge. The look is vaguely reminiscent of the Kia EV6’s upturned rear end, though the concept’s roof slopes far more dramatically from the center point to the rear.

Though Infiniti didn’t share specs or performance details for the Vision Qe concept, it says the car’s speedy looks preview a high-performance sedan. “As we began to follow the inspiration around Artistry in Motion, we rediscovered the Japanese expression of ‘Sho,’ an expression of soaring with grace and power. Our designers began creating forms that, to me, looked like abstractions of a bird in flight—powerful, almost motionless, but generating such speed,” said Alfonso Albaisa, SVP for Global Design.

Infiniti used lighting to accentuate the concept’s lines, and the “digital piano key” look at the front is striking, to say the least. It features the “keys” across the area, which would be the grille, and the lower fascia has odd polygonal lighting elements that make the car look like it has a gaping, LED-outlined mouth. The extensive lighting units provide animated sequences for approach and departure, and Infiniti says the elements blend seamlessly with the rest of the body.

The car’s deep blue color, Shadow Blue, changes shades depending on the lighting, and Infiniti included gold accents throughout the design. Large wheels give the car a sinister look and come in a warm gold hue, contrasting the concept’s striking exterior color.

Since this is a concept, it’s unlikely to make it through the gauntlet to production without changes to make it more palatable to buyers and easier to build. That could mean a more traditional sedan when Infiniti gets around to building it. You can expect the automaker to assemble the car at Nissan’s facility in Canton, Mississippi. Many expect Nissan to build a similar car at the same time. Both could enter production as early as 2025, which, unfortunately for Nissan fans, likely means a 2026 release.

Infiniti is the source of information in this article. It was accurate on October 25, 2023, but it may have changed since that date. Always confirm product details and availability with the automaker’s website or your local dealership.
