2023 Chrysler 300C Preview

Chris Teague | Sep 14, 2022

Big sedans are slowly dying in the United States, and only a few options are left. That group will shrink by two after 2023, as Dodge is discontinuing the Charger, and Chrysler is killing the 300. The 300, however, is getting quite the swan song. Chrysler is selling a limited number of 300Cs for 2023 with a large V8 engine and upgraded features.

The 300 has been around since 2005 and has been more or less unchanged since then. Its early run saw awards, such as the North American Car of the Year and others, but its star has faded over time. Its departure makes room in the Stellantis catalog for more electrified models, so we may soon see an updated electric sedan.

What's New for the 2023 Chrysler 300C?

  • Final-year special-edition car
  • Standard 6.4-liter Hemi V8 engine
  • Zero-to-60 mph in 4.3 seconds and the quarter mile in 12.4 seconds
  • Production limited to 2,000 units for the United States
  • Pricing starts at $56,595, including the $1,595 destination charge
  • Reservations are open now

The Chrysler 300's stately exterior doesn't change for 2023, but Chrysler says the car gets unique tri-color badges to differentiate from previous models. Other exterior features include 20-inch wheels, black chrome accents on the front end, and black lighting fixtures. Chrysler offers three colors for the 300C, including black, red, and white.

Black Laguna leather upholstery comes standard and features an embossed 300C logo. The car has silver stitching throughout, including on the doors and around the gauge cluster. Carbon fiber and piano black accents complete the look. Beyond features, however, space and comfort have always been hallmarks of the Chrysler 300. Even with extra horsepower, that should continue. The car offers 41.8 inches of front legroom and 40.1 inches in the back. Headroom measures 38.6 inches in front and 37.9 inches in the rear. Those numbers are great for a sedan and not far off some SUVs.

2023 Chrysler 300C Specs

The star of the show is the 6.4-liter Hemi V8. It's the same engine seen elsewhere in the Stellantis catalog, making 485 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque. In the 300C, it delivers a claimed zero-to-60-mph time of 4.3 seconds and a quarter-mile time of 12.4 seconds. The engine sends its fury to the rear wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission that Chrysler says offers lightning-fast 160-millisecond shifts. Other standard features include Bembo brakes, rounded dual exhaust tips, adaptive suspension, and a 3.09 limited-slip differential.

2023 Chrysler 300C Safety

The last Chrysler 300 to receive full crash testing was the 2021 model. It earned a Marginal score for the small overlap front driver-side crash test and Good scores in other areas. The headlights earned a Poor score. Though the 2023 model is structurally similar, Chrysler equips a handful of standard driver aids: advanced braking assist, full-speed forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and more.

2023 Chrysler 300C Technology

The 2023 300C comes standard with an 8.4-inch infotainment system that offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A 19-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, heated steering wheel, and ventilated front seats are also standard. Stellantis' Uconnect infotainment system is one of the industry's most intuitive and feature-rich interfaces today.

2023 Chrysler 300C Competitors

The market for large, loud full-size sedans is dwindling, but a few contenders are waiting to take on the 300C. The Dodge Charger is its most direct competitor and is also being discontinued after 2023. It offers more powerful engine options and a handful of special editions for the last model year. The Genesis G80 is an excellent alternative and offers more tech and standard features. Finally, the Nissan Maxima is a lesser-known large sedan that brings sharp styling and a smooth ride.
