What’s the next best thing to a 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor? Why, a 2021 Ford F-150 Tremor, of course! The Tremor treatment gives America’s best-selling light-duty pickup truck an impressive combination of style, utility, and off-roading capability.
Ford will offer the F-150 Tremor only in SuperCrew (crew cab) format with a 5.5-foot cargo bed, a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 engine, and 4-wheel drive. In addition to standard specification, two optional equipment groups will add features and functionality. But they all share what makes the Tremor a special truck: serious off-roading capability.

You can identify the 2021 Ford F-150 Tremor in many ways, but the Active Orange highlights on the grille, badges, and front and rear recovery hooks make it easy to tell at a glance. Well, that, and the big Tremor decal on each side of the cargo bed.
Every F-150 Tremor has a front bash plate to signal its intent, and high-flow exhaust outlets poke out of rear bumper cut-outs. The F-150 Tremor has a redesigned and vented hood and a unique grille with a blacked-out Ford badge, and it sits on 18-inch dark gray matte-finish wheels with 33-inch General Grabber all-terrain tires.
The Active Orange detailing theme continues inside the F-150 Tremor, which is equipped with unique materials and finishes as well as special seat trim and stitching. Ford did not detail the contents of the Tremor’s optional equipment groups, but it’s clear you can outfit the truck with the top-shelf instrumentation, infotainment, and sound systems.
Every 2021 Ford F-150 Tremor is fitted with a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 engine. It makes 400 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 500 lb.-ft. of torque at 3,100 rpm. Ford claims the truck will tow 10,900 pounds and carry up to 1,885 pounds of payload.
A 10-speed automatic transmission powers the Tremor’s standard 4-wheel-drive system with a torque-on-demand transfer case similar what Ford offered on previous-generation Raptor. A rear locking differential is standard, and a front Torsen limited-slip differential will become available after the truck initially goes on sale.
What makes the Tremor special is its upgraded suspension. Retuned springs keep the truck better glued to the ground, while new shocks provide softer low-speed damping and improved high-speed control. Ford also revises the front knuckles and upper control arms for improved performance.
The result is increased suspension travel, measuring an inch in front and 1.5 inches in back. Ground clearance is also improved, along with approach (27.6 degrees), breakover (21.2 degrees), and departure angles (24.3 degrees). The Tremor has a slightly wider stance, too, by an inch.
In addition to the seven driving modes available for other F-150s, the Tremor also gets a Rock Crawl mode. It automatically engages the rear locking differential, shuts off the stability and traction control systems, reduces throttle response, modifies transmission shift points, and puts the available surround-view camera view on the infotainment system’s display screen.
Ford Trail Toolbox is also standard on the F-150 Tremor. It equips the truck with Enhanced Trail Control (off-road cruise control), Trail One-Pedal Drive (press the accelerator to move, release it to brake), and Trail Turn Assist (reduces steering radius at low speed by braking the inside rear wheel).
In addition to the safety equipment Ford offers across the 2021 F-150 lineup, including Ford Co-Pilot360 advanced driving assistance systems (ADAS), the Tremor is available with a surround-view camera system that includes a front-view camera. Using the front-view camera, drivers can see exactly what terrain the truck will cross depending on steering inputs.
Ford offers a wide range of technological features for the 2021 F-150 Tremor, including a 12-inch digital instrumentation panel, a Ford Sync 4 infotainment system with a 12-inch touchscreen display, cloud-based connected services, a FordPass smartphone app, and more.
Additionally, the truck includes a standard 6-position auxiliary power switch bank that allows owners to add winches, air compressors, off-road lighting, and other accessories. And, to power tools at the job site or equipment at the camp site, the available Pro Power Onboard system provides 2.0 kilowatts of auxiliary electric power via an outlet in the bed.
