Exterior Features

The restyled 2013 MKS debuts a new look that will be extended to future Lincolns. The grille features active shutters that the automaker says will improve aerodynamics and fuel economy, and the new MKS features LED taillights and redesigned wheel choices.

Interior Features

A new dashboard equipped with touch-capacitive controls is standard on the 2013 Lincoln MKS. Additional sound-absorption materials and redesigned side mirrors aim to quell road and wind noise, and Lincoln says it has upgraded the quality of the MKS's cabin for 2013. A second-generation version of the MyLincoln Touch infotainment system is said to offer more intuitive and ergonomic functionality.

Optional Features

A number of new luxury features can be added to the 2013 MKS. Highlights include massaging front seats and a heated steering wheel, and the new MKS can be turned into a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot through an upgraded version of the Sync hands-free connectivity system. A THX II Certified premium audio system with 16 speakers is also available, as well as a power rear window sunshade, voice-activated navigation, and a dual-panel glass sunroof.

Under the Hood

A more powerful version of the MKS's standard 3.7-liter V-6 engine debuts for 2013. It makes 300 horsepower, and feeds motive force to the front or all four wheels through a 6-speed automatic transmission.

An optional turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6, also known as the EcoBoost engine, delivers 355 horsepower and a broad plateau of 350 lb.-ft. of torque between 1,500 and 5,250 rpm. The MKS EcoBoost comes with all-wheel drive.

Every 2013 MKS is equipped with a new Continuously Controlled Damping (CCD) suspension and Lincoln Drive Control. Lincoln Drive Control calibrates the MKS's CCD suspension, powertrain, steering, and traction and stability control systems to driver-selected Comfort, Normal or Sport settings.

Fuel Economy

Fuel-economy ratings for the 2013 Lincoln MKS are as follows:
  • 3.7-liter V-6 with FWD: 18/27/21 mpg (city/hwy/combined)
  • 3.7-liter V-6 with AWD: 18/26/21 mpg
  • EcoBoost V-6 with AWD: 17/25/20 mpg

Safety

In addition to six standard air bags, traction and stability control, and a larger set of anti-lock brakes with brake assist, the 2013 Lincoln MKS features new Driver Alert technology, which is designed to detect a drowsy driver and recommend a stop for rest. Additionally, numerous safety features are available as options, including a rearview camera, adaptive cruise control with collision warning and emergency brake support, blind-spot information system, rear cross-traffic alert system, and a new lane-keeping alert and assistance feature.

Crash-test ratings are unavailable for the 2013 Lincoln MKS as this preview is written.
