The 650S is a brand new model this year, though it's closely related to the MP4 12C and will replace that car. The 650S features a totally restyled front end, a more powerful engine and additional chassis tuning. The 650S is not only a faster car than the MP4 12C but a better handling car as well, thanks to revised suspension and improved aerodynamics.
SelectBrowse ListingsWhen the McLaren 650S entered production for the 2015 model year, the high-powered exotic car was a prime exhibit to the British supercar evolution in a short time. The 650S served as the successor to McLaren's 12C supercar developed just three years prior. Though McLaren transferred a great deal of the 12C's technology into the construction of the 650S (such as the carbon fiber monocell and brake steer system), the McLaren 650S adopted several design cues from the limited-run P1 hybrid supercar such as the curved front lighting incorporating LED illumination. A coupe and open-air Spider version of the McLaren 650S debuted together with dihedral doors. The 650S' cabin is an unmistakable race-bred, driver focused cockpit equipped with a small diameter steering wheel and a Formula 1-inspired paddle shifter for the seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. A 641-horsepower, twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V-8 engine mid-mounted in the McLaren allows the vehicle to launch from 0 to 62 miles per hour in three seconds. For 2016, a host of carbon fiber accent pieces previously reserved as optional was promoted to standard equipment on the McLaren 650S.
