Specializing in quattro all-wheel drive since the 1980s, Audi has long touted a reputation as a premium vehicle that can go where others cannot. After offering an off-road capable wagon called the allroad quattro as a sport utility vehicle (SUV) alternative, the German luxury brand eventually joined the growing premium crossover market. Audi's first entrance into the SUV market came thanks to a platform co-developed with Volkswagen and Porsche brands. Debuting in the United States for 2006, the Audi Q7 has provided luxury all-wheel drive performance from gasoline and TDI diesel powerplants. Since the successful introduction of the seven-passenger Q7 in North America, Audi has introduced the smaller Q5 in 2009 and the compact Q3 for 2015.
