The Discovery Sport joined the Land Rover catalog almost a decade ago. Still, while it got a mild refresh in 2019, the SUV hasn’t had a complete refresh since its inception. Land Rover has another update in store for 2024, giving the British luxury sport utility a new infotainment system, updated wheel designs, and an improved air filtration system.

Land Rover sells two versions of the Discovery Sport, with one available powertrain option. The 2024 Discovery Sport will come in Sport S and Sport Dynamic SE trims; both get a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine and all-wheel drive (AWD). Pricing starts at $48,900, and the Disco Sport is available for configuration now.
- Mild update for 2024

The Discovery Sport’s exterior appearance hasn’t changed dramatically since its inception, and the 2024 model carries on that tradition. It features the honeycomb grille pattern and clean lines of its predecessor. Land Rover rolled out a handful of new wheel designs for the SUV for 2024, and buyers can outfit the Sport with an array of exterior cameras for easier off-roading.

The 2024 Discovery Sport gets interior updates with better storage and seating for up to seven people. Land Rover borrowed elements from the more expensive Range Rover line, giving the Sport a more upscale and tech-forward cabin with a refreshed dash design. Though one of the brand’s more entry-level models, the Discovery Sport comes standard with heated front seats and steering wheel. A panoramic sunroof and synthetic leather upholstery are available.
Land Rover equips a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine making 246 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque. The automaker pairs it with a 9-speed automatic transmission and AWD. The luxury off-roader manages a water-fording depth of 23.6 inches. Land Rover offers upgrades such as headlamp washers and a camera-based rearview mirror system to make tackling challenging terrain easier.
Land Rover equips a generous array of standard driver aids in the new Discovery Sport, including automatic emergency braking, blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic warning, traffic-sign recognition, a 3D surround-view camera system, parking sensors, and lane-keeping assistance. The SUV also offers a driver monitoring system and two terrain-management systems that adapt drivetrain and traction settings for various off-road situations.
The 2024 Discovery Sport also gets a more sophisticated air quality and purification system. It monitors CO2 levels and can actively filter out pathogens, odors, bacteria, and allergens, and the system offers real-time exterior air quality monitoring.
Land Rover has improved its Pivi Pro infotainment system in recent years, making it more intuitive and less distracting to use while driving. The interface is bright and flows nicely between menus, and it runs on a new 11.4-inch floating curved glass touchscreen in the Discovery Sport. The new system features a permanent sidebar function with access to the most-used vehicle settings, such as media, climate, and navigation. Land Rover notes that the setup allows users to manage 90 percent of infotainment interactions with two touches or less.
The 2024 Land Rover Discovery Sport is in an odd market position because it’s a luxury SUV with strong off-road chops. That could drive buyers to consider rugged vehicles like the Jeep Grand Cherokee Sport, which isn’t as expensive to start but can become ridiculously pricey. There’s also the Audi Q5, a sportier luxury SUV, and the BMW X3, which offers a similar approach.
