For the first time in the United States, the ultra-luxury sport utility Range Rover and Range Rover Sport can be equipped with a diesel powerplant. The Td6 turbocharged diesel engine delivers a lively but refined performance punch for the 2016 Range Rover consisting of 254 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque. Providing performance almost on par with the Range Rover's gasoline-powered, supercharged V-6 engine, the diesel engine's most redeeming quality is fuel mileage that combines to be 6 miles per gallon better.
Focused more on performance than fuel economy, the 2016 Range Rover line-up also boasts a new top-level model called the SVAutobiography. Accompanying high-level luxury equipment, the Range Rover SVAutobiography is equipped with a 550-horsepower supercharged V-8. For 2016, the Range Rover Evoque gains a host of updates inside and out. Full LED headlights and a hands-free gesture-controlled power tailgate are available on the 2016 Evoque.
The gesture-controlled tailgate will also be offered on the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models. Sometime within 2016, expect to welcome the Range Rover Evoque Convertible providing another layer of trendy, compact luxury utility amusement. For 2016, the LR2 has been officially dropped by Land Rover in favor of the Discovery Sport introduced last year.
