The biggest news for the Range Rover in 2020 is the addition of a couple of new engines to the lineup. The supercharged 3.0L V6 from last year has been replaced by a turbocharged inline 6-cylinder unit. The switch from supercharging to turbocharging should yield a few more mpgs while also providing just a bit more horsepower and performance to boot.

Land Rover has added a new plug-in hybrid model for 2019. Powered by a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine aided by an electric motor, the Range Rover PHEV model has an electric-only range of up to 31 miles, far enough to complete most everyday trips without using any fuel at all. The PHEV Range Rover remains relatively compromise-free as in addition to its electric drivetrain, it still retains a traditional gasoline engine, which can be used on longer journeys or when more acceleration is needed.

Notable updates for 2018 touch on both style and performance. The available Touch Pro Duo Infotainment system incorporates two touchscreen displays eliminating many buttons and knobs from the interior. New front and rear seat design, with available 24-way adjustable and massaging front seats, bring comfort to the interior. The interior also features an available air cabin ionization unit and Gesture Sunblind controls. On the outside, new LED headlights enhance the stylish exterior design. Those who choose the SVAutobiography trim level will enjoy a boost in horsepower to 557-hp.

The biggest change for 2017 is the addition of a new trim level the 'SVAutobiography'. Sitting atop the Range Rover hierarchy, the SVAutobiography features an incredibly powerful supercharged V8 and Brembo brakes. Other additions include revised, sportier suspension and unique interior and exterior styling cues. The rest of the lineup gets an improved navigation system as well as a tow assist function that will aid in reversing the SUV while a trailer is hooked up. Other new features include a driver fatigue monitoring system, automatic emergency braking and an intelligent speed limiter.

For 2016, Land Rover's venerable Range Rover returns few big changes. A new 3.0L diesel engine that both offers 440 lb-feet of torque and 29 mpg on the highway becomes available.

For 2015, Land Rover's venerable Range Rover returns with a few notable changes. Among them the HSE is now available in a long-wheelbase version, Soft-close doors and Climate Front Seats are now standard on the HSE, and Land Rover InControl Apps are now available as a standalone option or with the Meridian Premium Surround Sound option. A new Driver Assistance Pack includes things like lane departure warning, parallel park assist, 360-degree park distance control, and more. Finally, 10-way power front seats replace the previous eight-way seats.

After a full redesign for 2013, the Range Rover returns in 2014 with a new base engine, a 3.0L supercharged unit that replaces the old non-supercharged 5.0L V8. A start/stop feature has also been added to aid fuel economy.

The fourth-generation Land Rover Range Rover is all-new for 2013. Despite that, it retains the look of its predecessor in most ways. The biggest change comes in weight savings, where extensive use of aluminum has shaved more than 700 pounds from the model. In fact, the Rover utilizes an SUV-first aluminum unibody structure, along with aluminum front and rear sub-frames. Power still comes from one of two 5.0L V8s, making either 375 hp or 510 hp when equipped with a supercharger. Both are mated to a new 8-speed ZF automatic transmission. In keeping with the Range Rover's off-roading roots, the model is equipped with a new Terrain Response 2 Auto system, which uses an array of icons around a dial to allow drivers to select the mode that suits their needs. In response, the system adjusts for ride height, throttle and shift control, and stability control. The interior is all-new as well, with increased rear passenger room and a refined dash and control layout that is cleaner and more efficient. Models include base, HSE, Supercharged, and Autobiography, with prices ranging from $83,500 to $130,950.

Land Rover further refined the Range Rover for the 2012 model year with a couple of minor styling tweaks. Headlight and taillight backplates are now black while the door handles and side vents have been color matched to the body of the vehicle. The 2011-only Autobiography Black Edition is gone, but Land Rover has replaced it with the Autobiography which offers many of the same options.

For 2011, Land Rover's top-of-the-line Range Rover receives a new Hill Hold Assist for starting the vehicle out on a grade. Inside, optional reclining rear seats appear in HSE Lux and Supercharged models and a new harman/kardon 1200-watt, 19-speaker stereo system also appears on the options list. To celebrate the marquee's 40th anniversary, a new Autobiography Black limited edition becomes available. The package adds Barolo Black exterior paint, 20-inch aluminum wheels and special exterior accents, while inside you'll find a host of luxury features, including special upholstery with embossed headrests, wood veneer throughout and illuminated doorsills. Heated and ventilated reclining rear seats are included in the package.

The 2010 Land Rover Range Rover gets a new engine lineup, new active-safety technology, new braking systems and suspension technology, and slightly upgraded interior and exterior styling. It's not quite a complete redesign, but the 2010 Range Rover received some welcomed attention.

For 2009, Land Rover's Range Rover receives new leather dashboard trim. The entry-level HSE model now rides on revised 7-spoke alloy wheels. Also for 2008, the Range Rover Autobiography debuts, wood interior trim, rear-seat entertainment system, 4-zone climate control and 20" 10-spoke wheels are included.

For 2008, Land Rover's Range Rover receives new leather dashboard trim. The entry-level HSE model now rides on revised seven-spoke alloy wheels, while the SC now features auto-dimming exterior mirrors. The optional cherry wood trim found on the SC in 2007 is no longer available. Also for 2008, the Range Rover Westminster debuts, with production limited to 500 units. Aside from a number of unique visual treatments, a four-zone climate control and a rear seat entertainment system are included.

Land Rover's flagship model, the Range Rover, gets the Terrain Response system as standard equipment for 2007, and a new electronically controlled rear-axle differential is optional on the HSE model and standard on the SC. An electronically controlled parking brake is also new. After getting a revised powertrain lineup for 2006, the Range Rover's interior gets a redesign for 2007, with a new climate control system, new trim and switchgear, and new storage bins. A driver's knee air bag is now standard, front seats incorporate whiplash-reducing head restraints, and cool-air ventilation for the front seats is now standard on SC and available on HSE.
