This compact SUV, the latest addition to the Swedish brand's EV portfolio, successfully embodies Volvo’s iconic safety measures, dedication to sustainability, and Scandinavian design aesthetics.
The 2025 Volvo EX30, now available for reservation in the United States, has an attractive starting price of $34,950 (MSRP). This competitive pricing places this premium, fully electric SUV in the same price bracket as its combustion engine counterparts.
With the introduction of the EX30 as its first compact, fully electric SUV, Volvo enhances its burgeoning array of electric vehicles. This new addition addresses the growing preference for fully electric vehicles within a rapidly expanding segment.
Unveiled in Milan last month, the Volvo EX30 aims to have the smallest CO2 footprint of any Volvo car to date. Thanks to its advanced technology and Scandinavian design, it promises safety, convenience, and pleasure. Externally, it boasts a long wheelbase, sizable wheels, and equal front and rear overhangs that confer an aesthetic balance. Its uniquely electric design, complete with a confident face, closed shield, and digital iteration of the trademark Thor's Hammer headlights, gives it a distinct identity. It's available in five eye-catching exterior colors, including stylish Cloud Blue and vibrant Moss Yellow, inspired by the lichen growing on Swedish coastal rocks.
The compact Volvo SUV provides two powertrain options, tailoring to customer needs. The Single Motor Extended Range rear-wheel drive variant promises an estimated 275 miles between charges. Performance seekers can opt for the Twin Motor Performance variant, which couples the battery with an additional e-motor on the front axle. This all-wheel-drive version of the EX30 offers 422 horsepower and accelerates from 0-60 mph in a mere 3.4 seconds.
The EX30 exemplifies Volvo's commitment to sustainability. By addressing emissions throughout the vehicle's production and lifecycle and ensuring considerate use of materials, Volvo has reduced the SUV's total carbon footprint to under 30 tons over a driving span of 124,274 miles (200,000 km).
Recognizing that potential buyers may have numerous queries about electric vehicles, Volvo has opted for a unique marketing approach. Volvo Mobile Studio, an on-the-go variant of the company's physical studios, has been designed to provide an engaging, informative experience. Visitors at the New York event could explore the Mobile Studio's three interior lounges, learn about electric vehicle technology, and savor a cup of coffee from the Volvo Mobile Café.
The Volvo Mobile Studio is scheduled to display the EX30, the EX90 three-row SUV, and other electrified Volvo vehicles at the Electrify Expo, North America's largest electric vehicle festival, until November 2023.
