The Hyundai Accent was named the best small car in initial quality in the JD Power 2022 U.S. Initial Quality Study (IQS), marking the second year in a row that the Accent has taken home the title for the best small car.
“Back-to-back wins are always hard to accomplish in JD Power IQS,” said Omar Rivera, Executive Director, Quality and Service Engineering, Hyundai Motor America. “We are relentless in our pursuit to constantly improve customer satisfaction and the quality of our vehicles. Accent is a symbol of our commitment to achieving those goals.”

Now in its 36th year, the 2022 U.S. Initial Quality Study is based on responses from 84,165 purchasers and lessees surveyed early in the ownership period of 2022 model-year vehicles.
The basis for initial quality is measured by the number of problems experienced per 100 vehicles (PP100) during the first 90 days of ownership. On this scale, lower scores reflect higher quality. The study was conducted from February through May 2022.
The JD Power IQS is based on a 223-question survey of nine vehicle categories:
The study is designed to provide automakers with data to facilitate methods to identify problems and improve their products. Because it's a carryover model, the 2022 Hyundai Accent contains all of the features and stylings that helped it earn the top spot for the Initial Quality Study the previous year.
The 2022 Hyundai Accent offers tremendous value with a starting price of only $15,935 and a multitude of premium features, including heated front seats, rearview monitor, forward collision-avoidance system, hands-free trunk release, and proximity key entry. Accent owners can also stay connected and entertained with the touchscreen infotainment system, smartphone integration, and dual-charging USB ports.
