Honda and its Los Angeles-based Honda Design team released a new video showcasing the exterior and interior styling of the all-new Prologue, the automaker’s battery electric SUV launching in 2024. With over 30 years of design experience, project leader Jiro Ikeda assembled a team of gifted young designers to develop a modern and fresh SUV with clean and simple surface lines. They even coined the term "Neo-Rugged" to help define it.
"Designing the first volume Honda electric vehicle gave us more freedom than a vehicle with an internal combustion engine, and we can stretch our imagination, especially in styling the front-end," said Sang-Hyuk Ahn, an exterior designer at Honda. "We envisioned Prologue with a longer wheelbase, shorter overhang, and capable tires to create sporty proportions and a stronger stance."

The Prologue is the first Honda vehicle primarily designed through virtual reality visualization. The design team used this technology to visualize the Prologue in various environments and accelerate the collaboration process between Honda styling teams in the U.S. and Japan.
"We were able to see Prologue in digital environments that truly resemble the real world," said Marco Tan, VR and CG designer with Honda Design. "By simulating and evaluating colors, materials, and even lighting in a virtual 3D environment, we were able to explore possibilities that took styling to a higher level."
The styling of the Prologue embodies an “adventure-ready SUV that delivers engaging everyday driving and fun weekend getaways.” Additional details on the Prologue are set to be released in the coming months, and customers are encouraged to sign up for updates at https://automobiles.honda.com/future-cars/prologue#stayinformed.
The Prologue is an instrumental piece in Honda’s plan for full electrification. Honda has laid out an aggressive timeline of EV introductions in North America while working toward its goal of achieving carbon neutrality for all global products and corporate activities by 2050.
