Ford is injecting a blast from the past into its modern lineup, bringing back the beloved Free Wheeling package with the all-new 2024 Ford Bronco Sport Free Wheeling special edition. The spirit of the vibrant and charismatic Ford Free Wheeling trucks, vans, and Broncos from the 1970s is being reincarnated, promising to captivate a new generation of Ford fans. Starting today, customers can place their orders for the 2024 Ford Bronco Sport Free Wheeling special edition, which will be released in tandem with the Black Appearance package for the Bronco Sport Big Bend, adding a sense of refined elegance with its sophisticated black detailing.

The original Free Wheeling package was a standout offering from Ford in the late 1970s, adorning models such as the F-100, F-150, Bronco, and Econoline van. It was distinctive for its vibrant gradient graphics in shades of red, orange, and yellow that exuded an air of dynamism and freedom. Painted steel wheels and a slew of black accents on the grilles, mirrors, and bumpers further enhanced the exterior appeal. The package's signature look extended to the interiors, featuring red and orange pinstriping on the dashboard with similarly themed seat stitching.
“Bronco customers appreciate its heritage,” remarked Jason Hyde, Bronco Sport Marketing Manager at Ford. Recognizing this affection for the past, Hyde noted, “After such a great response to the reimagined Bronco Sport Free Wheeling project vehicle in 2021, we decided to bring this special edition that ties Bronco Sport to its fun-loving roots.”
The 2024 Ford Bronco Sport Free Wheeling special edition retains the distinct flavor of the original design. It features striking, reflective body-side, liftgate, and hood graphics in red, orange, yellow, and silver hues reminiscent of a glorious sunset. Additional exterior flourishes include a silver-painted grille with two-tone Bronco badging, a Shadow Black roof, a remodeled lower front-end insert, and 17-inch high-gloss black wheels adorned with red accents.
The interior doesn't fall short on style, either. Swathed in Black Onyx and Dark Space Grey, it captures the attention with sunset-colored seat inserts and ombre stitching. The door trim comes equipped with a Race Red C Channel and matching ombre stitching, blending seamlessly with the overall aesthetic.

In addition to the Free Wheeling edition, Ford is also catering to customers who prefer a darker, more brooding look. The 2024 Bronco Sport Black Appearance Package channels the beauty of night skies in remote locations. The package includes a Carbon Black grille, Matte Black 17-inch wheels, Matte Black hood graphics, a Shadow Black painted roof, and two-tone Bronco lettering. The interior reflects the same moody ambiance with Sport Contour seats and a modified airbag cover embellished with a black bucking Bronco badge. This package, however, is exclusively available for the Big Bend models.
Addressing the inception of the new Black Appearance Package, Hyde commented, “Bronco Sport customers have been asking for the stylish black finishes available on the F-150, Maverick, and Mustang, and we're delivering with the new Black Appearance Package.”
For the 2024 Bronco Sport, Ford has also broadened its color palette to include Azure Gray and Desert Sand, giving customers even more options to personalize their vehicle. However, these color options are not applicable to the Bronco Sport Free Wheeling or Heritage models. Overall, Ford continues to impress with its commitment to honoring its heritage while pushing boundaries with innovative designs and offerings.
