All-New 2022 Audi S3 Brings More Power, Sharp Styling

Chris Teague | Jun 11, 2021

After skipping the 2021 model year with its entry-level sports sedan, Audi has taken the wraps off its all-new 2022 S3. It is based on the redesigned 2022 Audi A3 sedan.

As is true of the A3, the 2022 Audi S3 features sharper, more sculpted exterior styling. The car is 0.8 inches wider and 1.6 inches longer than the previous-generation S3. Audi claims the streamlined styling provides aerodynamic benefits and reduced air resistance. The S3’s grille features a rhombus pattern, and the quad exhaust system is now larger to offer better performance and a throaty sound.

The 2022 Audi S3 will still offer a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine, but now it delivers 306 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque – an improvement of 18 horsepower and 15 pound-feet of torque over the previous-generation car. Quattro all-wheel drive is standard, and Audi tweaks it for 2022 to work more closely with the car’s electronic stability control system for better performance and traction.

The new 2022 S3 rides 0.6 inches lower than its A3 counterpart, sitting on a sports suspension that buyers can upgrade with an adjustable system. A new braking system is on board as well, featuring larger discs and better ventilation. The front discs now measure 14.1 inches. Audi says that all four discs are now internally ventilated, which helps prevent brake fade and improves stopping performance.

Audi updates the S3’s interior for 2022 with new S sports seats up front and carbon fiber accents throughout. A 10.1-inch touchscreen running the latest MIB 3 infotainment system is standard and comes paired with a 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster. The new software allows various input methods, including a new handwriting recognition system.

Audi also offers its 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit digital gauge cluster in the cars, which can project maps, audio and vehicle information, and more within the display directly in front of the driver.

Audi includes a handful of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) as standard equipment in the 2022 S3:

  • Audi Pre Sense Basic and Front
  • Lane-departure warning
  • Automatic high-beam headlights

Optional safety technology includes:

  • Audi Pre Sense Rear
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic warning
  • Parking sensors
  • Semi-autonomous parking assistance

The 2022 Audi S3 will go on sale later in 2021. Pricing starts at $44,900, not including the $1,045 destination charge.
