Chrysler has set the price of the 2021 Pacifica’s new all-wheel-drive system at $2,995, which is about what you’d pay for four sets of winter tires, not including mounting, balancing, and having them swapped out every season. Of course, the tires don’t add extra drive traction at both ends of the minivan, but if all you’re dealing with is snow and ice, they might serve equally well. Also, AWD reduces fuel economy from 22 mpg in combined driving to 20 mpg, so choosing winter tires instead can save money at the pump.
The AWD system is new for the refreshed 2021 Chrysler Pacifica, which also sees updated styling, a revised interior with a next-generation Uconnect 5 infotainment system including a 10.1-inch touchscreen display, a slew of newly standard safety features, and a new luxury-themed Pinnacle trim level. Gasoline and plug-in hybrid electric powertrains continue, and AWD is offered only with the Pacifica’s 3.6-liter V-6 engine.
For 2021, the Pacifica comes in Touring, Touring L, Limited, and Pinnacle trim levels. The base price of the Pacifica Touring is $35,045. The AWD system adds $2,995, for a total of $38,040. Or, you can choose the Touring Hybrid for $39,995, a premium of $4,950. The Pacifica Hybrid, which offers an estimated 32 miles of electric-only driving range before switching to gas-electric operation and returning 30 mpg in combined driving, is eligible for up to a $7,500 federal income tax credit and may also qualify for state and local incentive programs.
At the opposite end of the model lineup, the new Pacifica Pinnacle costs $53,390. It includes AWD, and with the plug-in hybrid powertrain the price is less, running $50,845 before tax credits and other government rebates and incentives. Prices in this article do not include the $1,495 destination charge.
Chrysler continues to offer the Voyager for 2021, with prices starting at $27,235 plus destination. It looks the same as the 2020 Pacifica, inside and out, and is a value-oriented model with less equipment.
