For 2015, Toyota have added a new trim level to the Avalon lineup, dubbed the XLE Touring Sport. The new trim adds a sinister variation to the normally somewhat subdued Avalon lineup. Available only in black, the XLE Touring sport features unique machine finished wheels, a dark blue interior, HID headlights and daytime running lights. All non-hybrid Avalon models benefit from the addition of paddle shifters mounted behind the steering wheel and an upgraded Entune entertainment system.

2013 Avalon Hybrid

The Avalon has been given a fresh new redesign for 2013. With a completely different interior and exterior than the outgoing model, the 2013 Avalon looks modern and sharp with just a hint of sportiness. The even bigger news for 2013 is the availability of a hybrid drivetrain for the Avalon, making it extremely fuel efficient for a car with such a heavy focus on luxury. Toyota borrows technology from the Prius to give the big Avalon some eyebrow raising fuel efficiency numbers, even managing to rate 40 mpg on the highway.

About Avalon Hybrid

Toyota's aggressive championing of hybrid drive technology was extended to their Avalon sedan flagship in 2013 as the vehicle received a complete redesign. The longer and more attractive 2013 Toyota Avalon sedan became the recipient of the Hybrid Synergy Drive system used in the popular Camry Hybrid. A 2.5-liter four-cylinder Atkinson cycle engine was combined with an electric powertrain operating off a 245-volt nickel-metal hydride battery pack. Channeling 200 horsepower through an electronic continuously variable transmission, the Toyota Avalon Hybrid was able to achieve combined city/highway fuel economy of 40 miles per gallon. Power moonroof, backup camera, leather seating and an eBin sliding electronic device holder with dual 12-volt outlet came standard on the 2013 Avalon Hybrid. The Toyota Avalon line-up has been treated to a major refresh for the 2016 model year with the Hybrid model gaining a new XLE Plus base trim and LED headlights.
