About Relay

The Relay was the only minivan to be sold by the Saturn brand produced between 2005 and 2007. Conforming with General Motors' attempt to have Saturn recognized as a more mainstream car make, the appearance of the Relay minivan was constructed on the same platform as the Chevrolet Venture. A trademark of Saturn models since the brand's inception, dent-resistant polymer body panels were not included on the Relay. The first year of production for the seven-passenger Saturn Relay minivan came in two trim levels powered by a 3.5-liter V-6 engine and provided the choice of front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The 2005 Relay's standard air conditioning and DVD entertainment system provided an upscale riding experience for families. For 2006, a 3.9-liter V-6 engine was introduced as an optional powerplant for the Saturn Relay. Generating 240 horsepower, the larger powerplant was upgraded to standard equipment in 2007. Optional all-wheel drive was deleted from the Saturn Relay for 2007 but fleet issued models could now be flex-fuel compatible with E85 blended fuel. A Saturn Relay 1 trim model provided a lower-cost entry level to the minivan Observing a decline in interest with minivans, General Motors dropped the Saturn Relay after the 2007 model year. The recently introduced Saturn Outlook large crossover vehicle served as an indirect replacement.
