SelectBrowse ListingsA new Phantom doesn't come along very often, but when it does it's big news. The latest redesign of Rolls-Royce's luxury sedan keeps with tradition by adding evolutionary rather than revolutionary changes to the styling. However underneath the car's skin, it's hiding a ton of new technology, along with a far more modern aluminum chassis and aluminum suspension components. Rolls-Royce have taken this relative lightness and applied it primarily to luxury rather than athleticism, though incidentally, the new car does accelerate more quickly and handle better than the one it replaces. However, the lighter chassis has allowed them to do things like filling the Phantom with nearly 300 lbs worth of sound-deadening, while the lighter suspension components allow for a better controlled ride over bumps, further softening out what was already a serenely controlled ride.

The interior now employs individually adjustable reclining rear seats in place of last year's bench seat. Additional audio and video inputs have also been added in the rear of the sedan, and several switches have been repositioned. A new coupe model is available as well, sharing some design elements with the recently added Drophead Coupe and bringing the model total to four. Starlight Headliner fiber-optic interior ambient ceiling lighting was the showcased feature for the 2008 model year. In 2009, the front-end was revamped and restyled, LED door handle illumination was added and 21” premium aluminum wheels were made standard features. 2010 saw no major changes. The only notable update for 2011 was the release of the “Spirit of Ecstasy” edition, which featured a signature hood ornament. 2012 wouldn’t see any updates. But in 2013, new LED headlights were added, the electronics system got a refresh, a new front end graced the body and an eight-speed transmission debuted.
