The Outlander Sport gets a host of changes for the 2020 model year. The front end of the vehicle has been completely restyled, with a more flowing design featuring a more prominent grille incorporating lots of LED lighting. The rear of the crossover has also been refreshed with new taillights as well as a few other subtle tweaks. Inside, the Outlander Sport gets nicer cloth upholstery for the seats and some new high quality materials around the switchgear. The optional infotainment system has been upgraded from a 7-inch unit to an 8-inch unit and now features both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

For 2019, the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is largely unchanged, though the SE trim now includes a blind-sport warning and the SEL trim is now known as the GT.

For 2018, the Outlander Sport returns with several revised styling elements as well as upgrades to the interior. A new front grill is standard across the range, while SE and SEL models get LED running lights. Inside, a new center console design adds some USB ports, while a new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system now supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Mechanical changes include an updated gearbox on the 2.4L SE and SEL.

Only minor changes happen going into the 2017 model year. The base ES gets new cloth upholstery, all models get automatic climate control and a shark-fin roof antenna while the 2.4L engine is no longer available on ES models or the front-wheel drive GT trim so those come with only the base 2.0L 4-cylinder engine.

The 2016 Outlander Sport gets several enhancements to both the exterior and the interior this year. The new front fascia is the most immediately noticeable change, with a new grill, lip moldings and 18-inch wheels. Inside, the steering wheel has been redesigned along with some of the HVAC controls. New seating materials round out the changes to the outlander sport for 2016.

For 2015, the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport features a new optional 2.4L 4-cylinder engine, which makes 168 horsepower and 167 pound-feet of torque. A new GT trim features this engine as standard. Meanwhile, upgraded power steering and an improved continuously variable transmission round out the changes.

The Mitsubishi Outlander Sport was brand new in 2013. For 2014, Mitsubishi have mainly left the Outlander Sport as-is, save for equipment upgrades to the various trims, which make the vehicle an even better value than it was last year. Improvements to the entire Outlander Sport range for 2014 include a new steering wheel with audio controls and better sound insulation. ES models get a new audio system head unit, while SE models now include HD radio and a 6.1-inch touchscreen display and rearview camera. SE models with the touring package get new, black leather seating as well as a navigation system, complete with 7-inch high definition touch pane and voice command functionality.

For 2013, Mitsubishi has introduced a number of subtle changes to help make the Outlander Sport look and feel a little more sophisticated and refined. In front there's a redesigned fascia, along with a new grille and fog lamp design. The rear bumper design is also new, and the side sills are now black. The doors also get new chrome trim inside and out. Also inside are new seating fabrics, and a higher-grade sound insulation brings a quieter cabin overall. Sound quality for the Premium Audio System has been improved as well, with new high-performance speakers. Meanwhile, the Outlander Sport gets substantial tuning changes that should help it drive a bit better: The rear suspension has been retuned; so has the electric power steering, which now transmits a little more steering feel. And the continuously variable automatic transmission has a new calibration for a smoother shift feel. Otherwise a new ES 4WD model is new to the lineup and offers the All-Wheel Control system at a lower price than the SE 4WD. SiriusXM satellite radio and heated front seats now come standard on the SE model; 18-inch alloy wheels come standard on all models; and two new colors, White Pearl and Quick Silver, join the palette.

The Mitsubishi Outlander Sport has been given several updates for the 2012 model year. Increased sound insulation helps cut down on unwanted noise and vibration, while a recalibrated CVT transmission tightens up throttle response and improves acceleration. The ES gets newly redesigned wheel covers while the top of the line SE gets brand new 18-inch alloys. The SE also gets some chrome accents on the interior and an optional backup camera as part of the Premium package.

The Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is an all-new model for 2011, fitting into the lineup just below the standard Outlander both in overall size and asking price. It features a completely redesigned body, a more fuel-efficient 2.0L 4-cylinder engine, and comfortable seating for five adults.
