Mercedes-Benz GLE Model Years and History

The 2026 GLE enters the new model year virtually unchanged except for the GLE 450 which receives the AMG Line exterior. The rest of the lineup now has access to vibrant new MANUFAKTUR paints, augmented video for the navigation system, and an all-new power rear-side sunshade option. The AMG variants get a new available package called the MANUFAKTUR Edition which blacks out the exterior, adds a panoramic roof, 21-inch wheels with black accents, and multiple safety features.

The 2025 GLE adds a new fingerprint sensor as standard equipment, introduces MANUFAKTUR Signature interior and exterior options, and now offers rear-wheel drive on the base GLE350 model.

The GLE gets a refreshed exterior, and a hybrid motor for 2024.

For 2023 the GLE carries over with minimal changes.

For 2022 the GLE carries over with minimal changes however auto-high beams are now standard across the lineup.

For 2021, the GLE-Class returns with minor updates such as increased horsepower on some engine options and the addition of the AMG GLE 53 Coupe to the already bolstered lineup.

The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE is hot off a full redesign for this year. The new GLE has grown a little bit, offering more interior space and an optional third row seat for those with a bigger family or the need to haul around up to seven people in a pinch. Of course, the GLE continues to offer all of luxury present in the previous generation while adding a big batch of new technology and style to the formula that made it a hit in the first place. In addition, the GLE gets a new range of engines that range from an efficient four-cylinder, all the way up to a twin-turbo, fire breathing V8.

The Mercedes GLE sees several significant updates for the 2019 model year. An exterior design refresh provides a bolder style including an updated front grille and bumper, while the interior gets completely updated including dual 12.3-inch screen gauges and infotainment system. An available active suspension, dubbed "E-Active Body Control" provides more on-road performance with the ability to control the spring and damper for each wheel separately. 2019 models will also offer a third-row seat, making room for up to 7 passengers, thanks to a longer wheelbase.

The biggest change for the GLE series is a new engine powering the mid-level AMG GLE43. The engine is a twin-turbo V6 displacing 3.0L, just like the old engine. However power is up on this model with the GLE43 now rated at 385 horsepower.

With low slung styling and powerful performance oriented engine options, the GLE Coupe should be a good match for anyone looking for a sporty, yet practical ride that has no problems conquering the elements.
