About Soul EV

The first production zero-emissions electric vehicle sold by Kia in the United States, the Soul EV premiered in 2015. Powered by an 81.4 kilowatt electric motor generating the equivalent of 109 horsepower, the Kia Soul EV can reach a driving range of 93 miles from the energy of a 27-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery. Similar in design to the gasoline-powered crossover, the Kia Soul EV model is quickly distinguished by its closed-off front end and unique 16-inch wheels. Structurally improved to provide protection to the battery pack, the Soul EV other accommodations for all-electric motoring resulted in only minor dimensional changes inside. Rear seat cargo space remains the same as the gasoline-powered Soul at 18.8 cubic feet. A 120-volt portable charger was also incorporated stored in an under-cargo tray. Operators of the Kia Soul EV can also charge the vehicle through a CHAdeMo DC fast-charging port. Through the fast-charging solution, 80 percent capacity of the battery can be replenished in 33 minutes. First available for sale inside California, additional markets would offer the Kia Soul EV through 2015 and into 2016. In 2016, a lower-cost Soul EV e-trim model was rolled out in California.
