2009 STS-V

For 2009, Cadillac's STS and STS-V get mostly superficial changes following the 2008 refresh. Exterior colors Radiant Silver, Black Ice, and Blue Diamond Tricoat replace Blue Chip, Radiant Bronze, Light Platinum, and Sunset Blue. A speed limit notification has been added to navigation radio, and a Bluetooth interface is now available on non-navigation-equipped STS models. The Platinum Edition receives an alcantara ultra-microfiber headliner.

2008 STS-V

For 2008, the Cadillac STS gets a much more powerful standard engine--a 302-horsepower, direct-injected V6--and a new six-speed automatic transmission standard across the model line. And making its debut for 2008 is a new STS Platinum Edition, which adds distinctive materials inside, with Tuscany leather and special chrome and wood accents. Two advanced-technology options, Lane Departure Warning Alert and Side Blind Zone Alert, help increase driver awareness and safety, and a head-up display and high-intensity discharge (HID) headlamps are now available on V6 models. Separately, the available Intellibeam headlamps switch between high and low beam as oncoming vehicles approach and pass. There's also a new Performance Handling Package, which adds an upgraded braking system, 18-inch alloy chrome-plated wheels, and summer performance tires, plus an active front steering feature on V8 AWD models. Flashy new polished aluminum 14-spoke, 18-inch wheels are also newly available. Otherwise there are a number of cosmetic changes, including new side marker lamps, a new grille and lower front fascia and intake, a new body-colored rear fascia, and polished aluminum exhaust tips.

Expanding their sedan performance line in 2006, Cadillacs STS sedan became the recipient of some aggressive sport-themed touches. Featuring a larger grille comprised of polished stainless steel, lowered front fascia and rocker panels, pronounced rear spoiler as well as unique 10-spoke alloy wheels, the 2006 Cadillac STS-V was instantly defined from the non-performance model. Along with accenting the look of the sedan, aesthetic details also provided practical purposes by improving airflow for aerodynamics and cooling. A special hood was also found for the Cadillac STS-V created to provide clearance for the high-output engine. The supercharged 4.4-liter V-8 engine attached to the STS-V generated 469 horsepower and 439 pound-feet of torque making the car the most powerful production Cadillac sold until the 2008 CTS-V. The STS-V was the first Cadillac and General Motors vehicle to use a new six-speed automatic transmission that included Driver Shift Control. The Cadillac STS-Vs 0 to 60 mile-per-hour acceleration potential was rated at less than five seconds. Rear-wheel driven, Brembo disc brakes with anti-lock control, traction control and StailiTrak was in place to maintain competent handling manners for powerful sedan. Inside, passengers of the high-performance Cadillac four-door sedan rode in a cabin consisting of Olive Ash Burl wood and aluminum accents. Seating also featured suede inserts for an extra dose of luxury as well as race car-like feel. Shortly following the introduction of a refreshed and more powerful Cadillac CTS-V, production of the STS-V concluded. 2009 was the final year of available for the high-performance model of the Cadillac STS.
