About S8

The Audi S8 is recognized as a sport-oriented version of the A8 sedan. Available in Europe since 1996, the Audi S8 was first offered to United States customers for the 2001 model year. Powered by a 360-horsepower 4.2-liter V-8 channeled through quattro all-wheel drive, the 2001 Audi S8 was equipped with the luxury features befitting a high-end sedan. Dual-zone climate control system, heated and power-adjustable front seats as well as a Bose audio system was included standard on the 2001 Audi S8.

Discontinued after the 2003 model year, the Audi S8 was reintroduced in 2007 on an all-new platform powered by a 5.2-liter V-10 derived from the Lamborghini Gallardo. Riding on 20-inch alloy wheels spun by quattro all-wheel drive, the 450-horsepower 2007 Audi S8 once again featured a wealth of luxury and performance equipment. This second-iteration S8 was sold from 2007 until the end of the 2009 model year.

After a four-year absence, the latest addition of the Audi S8 was presented with a high-fashion A8 sedan persona. Including high-end convenience equipment such as a touch screen navigation and 22-way power-adjustable seats, the 2013 Audi S8 sedan’s propulsion was provided through a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8. Producing 520 horsepower, the 2013 S8 engine channeled its output through an eight-speed automatic transmission. Acceleration from 0 to 60 miles per hour with the 2013 Audi S8 is accomplished in 3.9 seconds.
