Nissan has the sedan market covered, from the Sentra compact to the Altima mid-size to the Maxima near-luxury sedan. For 2016, the Maxima is all-new and the Altima and Sentra are refreshed. The Sentra competes with cars like the Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic, and it comes with four-cylinder power and a continuously-variable automatic transmission (CVT). The Altima offers either four- or six-cylinder power, while the Maxima has V-6 power. The Altima is positioned against vehicles like the Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, and Ford Fusion, while the Maxima competes against premium mid-sizes like the higher-trim Fusions, as well as entry-luxury vehicles like the Toyota Avalon. There’s also a sedan version of the value-oriented Versa, which starts at under $12,000.
