A long-running product model in the Lincoln line-up has finally been retired for 2012. The Lincoln Town Car is no more. The American luxury brand decided to keep vehicles with a modern, more youthful level of extravagance. The 2012 Lincoln lineup is led by its MKS flagship sedan that adds a new, optional Blind Spot Information System. SYNC AppLink functionality has been added to the 2012 MKZ allowing hand-free control of applications found on the modern smartphones. The Lincoln MKZ continues to be offered with a 3.5-liter V-6 engine or an MKZ Hybrid model operating on a gasoline/electric powertrain. No major changes have been made to the Lincoln MKX and MKT crossover vehicles for the 2012 model year. The only V-8 engine remaining in the 2012 Lincoln lineup is the 5.4-liter powerplant used to propel the Navigator sport utility vehicle.
