Minis Made More Affordable with Expanded Oxford Edition Availability

Christian Wardlaw | May 26, 2020

In order to appeal to young, cash-strapped customers seeking something out of the ordinary to drive, the Mini Oxford Edition has always offered more equipment for less money. The catch was that you needed to be a college student or recent college graduate, or an active or recently retired member of the military, in order to qualify for the discounted Oxford Edition purchase.

For the time being, Mini is changing those prerequisites and making the 2021 Mini Hardtop Oxford Edition models available to everyone. Plus, the company is adding the 2020 Mini Countryman Oxford Edition to the mix, but only in limited quantities and for a limited time.

In 2-door specification, the Mini Hardtop Oxford Edition costs $19,750 (plus $850 for destination charges). The 4-door version requires another grand from your bank account, and the new Countryman Oxford Edition price is $25,900. Mini’s ALL4 all-wheel-drive system adds another $2,000 to the Countryman’s window sticker.

These prices are non-negotiable, so don’t arrive at your Mini dealership ready to haggle. After all, Mini is basically giving you a bunch of extra equipment at no extra charge. Indeed, you’re even getting a discount.

Based on Classic trim, the Countryman Oxford Edition includes several upgrades such as 18-inch wheels, automatic climate control, heated front seats, and a dark-gray headliner. Mini also offers the Oxford Edition is a wider array of colors than is available for Classic trim. The value of these features, according to Mini, is $5,500.

The 2021 Mini Hardtop Oxford Editions supply a claimed $6,900 of extras at no cost. Highlights include extra colors, nicer 17-inch wheels, heated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, and a choice between a manual and an automatic transmission.

Mini says the Countryman Oxford Edition goes on sale in June, followed by the Hardtop models.
