About Pathfinder

The 1998-1999 Pathfinder only saw minor changes to different trim levels, with a major update to the interior and exterior styles taking place mid-99. It would crossover into 2000 basically unchanged. In 2001, a long awaited power upgrade was added: a 250 hp V6 engine was unveiled, making this SUV the punchiest in its class. A new GPS system was offered (in-dash), and the rear entertainment DVD system was introduced.

Stylish updates graced the 2002 Pathfinder, with a new front grille, an updated audio system, and some shuffling in the trims and addable packages. Optional satellite radio was added for the 2003 model year, with a new Vehicle Dynamic Control Package that merged Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), traction control and a tire pressure monitoring system into one feature. No changes were in store for 2004, with a brand new and redesigned model released in 2005 that featured an even more powerful V6 engine and the popular third-row seating. Minor changes to trims augmented 2006 with a new MP3 input jack and safety reverse feature being added for 2007.

In 2008, the Pathfinder would get a brand new 5.6-liter V8 engine, able to make 310 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. A redesigned gauge cluster and cup-holder with center stack display screen complemented the interior, with minor tweaks made to the interior and exterior styling. The Pathfinder would coast through 2009 and 2010 relatively unchanged, with a new 25th-anniversary Silver Edition released in 2011. From 2012-2013 only subtle changes were made, with the addition of the much anticipated Pathfinder Hybrid in 2014 to round out the fleet.
