2017 SLC

The 2017 Mercedes-Benz SLC isn't so much a new model as it is a realignment of an old one. For 2017, the SLC replaces the previous SLK in the lineup. The roadster features updated styling, including new grille, headlights, and taillights. Beneath the hood is a new engine -- a turbocharged 4-cylinder making 241 horsepower and mated to a 9-speed automatic. Two trims are offered: the SLC300 and AMG SLC43, the latter powered by 362-horsepower 3.0L twin turbocharged V6. It, too, is mated to the 9-speed auto. SLC pricing starts at just under $48,000.

About SLC

Debuting in 1998 as the SLK roadster, the two-passenger retractable hardtop convertible instantly presented a more budget-friendly means to indulge in a similar performance luxury personality as the larger SL-Class. Renamed the SLC in 2017, the name change for the model was accompanied by an extensive update. Featuring a strikingly refreshed exterior wearing a diamond radiator grille and a highly detail hood, the Mercedes-Benz SLC's interior incorporated aluminum and carbon fiber trim pieces, sport steering wheel as well as larger electronic displays. A 241-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine powered the Mercedes-Benz SLC300 model. With the 2017 Mercedes-Benz roadster, an all-new AMG model departed from its predecessor's V-8 engine opting instead for a twin-turbocharged V-6 power unit. With engine power amounting to 362-horsepower, Mercedes-AMG SLC43 could launch from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 4.6 seconds. The AMG model includes distinctive sport bodywork, special 18-inch wheels and upgraded braking. All engine power for the 2017 Mercedes-Benz SLC was channeled through a 9G-Tronic automatic transmission. In 2018, an SLC300 RedArt Edition as well as an AMG SLC43 Performance Studio RedArt model incorporate unique interior and exterior details.
