The Lincoln Town Car sees a simplified model lineup for 2008, with the base level Signature and uplevel Designer Series models being discontinued. Outside, a two-tone paint scheme is no longer available, and four paint choices have been removed. On the safety front, a tire pressure monitoring system is now standard across the model line. The navigation system, THX audio system, and moonroof no longer grace the options list.

Four years after a major overhaul, changes for the 2007 Lincoln Town Car are limited to colors. Gone are Ceramic White, Light Tundra, and Pewter. New for 2007 are Dark Blue Pearl, Satellite Silver, White Chocolate, and four new two-tone combinations.

In 1999, the carmaker added side airbags as a standard feature while also introducing a new premium JBL sound system. For 2000, Lincoln added a trunk release handle, seat-anchor brackets for child seats, the Lincoln's Belt Minder system and a few interior tweaks while introducing a new body color: Autumn Red Clearcoat Metallic.
In 2001, interior changes like grab handles, adjustable pedals and a few other minor changes and updates were introduced, as well as some minor upgrades being made to packages and options. A three-year complementary maintenance program good for the first 36,000-miles was also offered. 2002 saw the optional addition of the Vehicle Communication System (VCS) for hands-free cellphone access. In 2003, Lincoln reengineered the Town Car, making it smoother handling, faster and safer than previous models. New standard equipment was added and the star ornament was reintroduced.
While there were no major changes in store for 2004, in 2005, Lincoln added a longer wheelbase Executive L trim, but only offered it for commercial fleets. THX sound was now available as was a new two-spoke steering wheel. The Town Car cruised through 2006 and 2007 with no major changes. In 2008, over 50% of the exterior body colors were discontinued. Model years 2009 through 2011 saw no major changes except for the release of the Continental Edition package (2010).
