The Jeep Patriot receives a brand new automatic transmission for 2014. With six forward gears, the new transmission promises to improve both fuel economy and performance, making the Patriot both peppier around town and more relaxed on the highway. New seat mounted side airbags are standard and round out the important changes for 2014.

2013 Patriot

The Patriot gets a bump in fuel economy for 2013, giving the vehicle a rating of 30 mpg on the highway. A "Freedom Edition" package is also new for 2013. Though it is primarily an appearance package featuring exclusive 17-inch wheels and several star decals, Jeep has also made sure to back up the name. For every 2013 Freedom Edition Patriot sold, Jeep will donate $250 to various military charities.

The Patriot gets a trim reshuffling for 2012. Last year's 70th anniversary edition and Latitude trim are out. A new Limited trim debuts this year, adding bright exhaust, bright roof rails, upgraded body trim, an upgraded stereo, automatic climate control, leather seats, a power driver seat and silver interior accents.

2009 Patriot

For 2009, Jeep's boxy compact gets a redesigned instrument panel, center console, and door panels, along with new trim and chrome accents. LED-illuminated cupholders are another new feature, and armrests are now padded, and a new removable carpeted cargo floor replaces the vinyl one. To reduce engine and road noise, more sound insulation has been added along the floor and the exhaust system has been retuned, and the suspension on Sport models has been retuned for a more comfortable ride. Newly available on the Patriot for 2009 is the ?UConnect tunes' system, an all-in-one entertainment package that allows for hard-drive storage of music and photos, and movie viewing.

For 2008, the Jeep Patriot enters its second year of production, with only minor changes to note. About Patriot

In 2007, Jeep introduced the brand new Patriot mid-sizedSUV as an economy SUV that worked for the commuter or for off-road adventureseekers. In 2008, Jeep made some minor changes to the Patriot, making A/Cstandard and adding the AutoStick manual transmission and a continuouslyvariable transmission (CVT), as well as introducing several new trim levels andoptional GPS.

 

In 2009, Jeep added the Uconnect multimedia integration, enhancedthe sound-proofing of the Patriot and redesigned the dash, center console anddoors. The 2010 Patriot offered an optional 4x2 and introduced active headrestraints as a standard feature. In 2011, Jeep updated the style of theexterior of the car and the interior trim, redesigned the steering system andoffered voice-control and 17 alloy wheels as options. In 2012 and in 2013, thePatriot had some minor changes made to the trims. The 2014 Patriot introduced asix-speed automatic transmission, and the carmaker made front-side airbagsstandard across all trims.
