Jaguar X-TYPE Model Years and History

The 2002 Jaguar X-TYPE was a brand new addition to their fleet and was the first all-wheel-drive vehicle that the carmaker ever rolled off the assembly line. A few minor changes were made to the car in 2003, including 17” wheels for the 3.0-liter models and a CD player standard. The base price was dropped by $3,000 in 2004, and the sports packaged added 18” wheels and a new sound system. New bumpers, fog lights and trunk lid designs also were introduced. The 2005 X-TYPE was unchanged from the previous year’s model. In 2006, Jaguar removed the 2.5-liter V6 model and made all models come standard with a five-speed transmission. A few other cosmetic changes were made and Bluetooth connectivity as well as Sirius Satellite Radio was added. In 2007, Jaguar trimmed down the models to offer only the X-Type 3.0 Sedan and Sportwagon. New additions for this year also included a powered moon roof, split-folding rear seats (standard), premium sound system, rain-sensing windshield wipers and wood-trimmed steering wheel. In 2008, 10-way power seats in the front were made standard as were a few other options, like an auto-dim rearview mirror and other minor changes to the interior and exterior.
