The Q45 sedan was one of two vehicles that launched the Nissan-based INFINITI luxury brand in 1990. Debuting as a flagship, the INFINITI Q45 was engineered to provide a unique high-end motoring presence to American buyers. First generation INFINITI Q45s sold from 1990 to 1996 featured a multi-link suspension, 276-horsepower 4.5-liter V-8 engine as well as an interior created with the aid of Italian furniture designer Poltrona Frau. In 1997, an all-new Q45 sedan was developed by INFINITI with a "clean sheet" of paper. Employing a more refined and cultured shape, the new 1997 INFINITI Q45 also included a lighter suspension along with improved leather and wood interior. Still called the Q45, the second-generation luxury flagship sedan utilized a 4.1-liter V-8 crafted as lower weight and more fuel efficient than its predecessor. Styling for the premium four-door sedan took a dynamic turn when redesigned for 2002. Along with a dashing, more aerodynamic appearance, the 2002 Q45's powerplant was once-again a 4.5-liter displacement size eight-cylinder engine that generated 340 horsepower. The INFINITI Q45's reign as INFINITI's flagship sedan lasted until the end of the 2006 model year replaced by the M45.
