About Equinox

Chevrolet’s first entrant in the segment referred to popularly as the crossover utility marketplace, the Equinox was a departure for the brand that had been a champion for truck-based sport utility vehicles. A compact crossover vehicle, the Equinox entered the market in 2005 as a product designed to be more palatable for families wanting practicality along with low operating costs. Introduced with a 3.4-liter V-6 engine rated at 185 horsepower, the Chevrolet crossover was offered with front-wheel or all-wheel drivetrains. Inside the five-passenger interior, the 2005 Equinox boasts several innovative features for the transporting people and cargo efficiently. Multi-flex rear seat as well as a multi-tier cargo configuration accommodating up to 68.6 cubic feet of storage room are practical qualities found inside the vehicle.

Electric power steering, air conditioning, 16-inch wheels on Bridgestone tires and remote keyless entry were equipped standard on the 2005 Chevrolet Equinox. Major revisions were made to the equipment trim of the Equinox in 2007 including the addition of standard StabiliTrak electronic stability control and four-wheel disc brakes. In 2008, the Equinox Sport model was introduced propelled by a 264-horsepower, 3.6-liter V-6 engine with variable valve timing and a new six-speed automatic transmission. For 2010, the Chevrolet Equinox received a substantial redesign. More car-like in appearance, the 2010 Equinox featured two completely new engines utilizing gasoline direct injection. For the first time on the Chevrolet Equinox, a 182-horsepower, 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine as well as a 3.0-liter V-6 engine generating 264 horsepower could be matched with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

Fuel economy for the four-cylinder, two-wheel drive model of the 2010 Chevrolet crossover was rated at 27 miles per gallon. FlexFuel compatibility was added to the V-6 powered Equinox in 2011 and the 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine in 2012. 2012 also introduced Chevrolet MyLink as an option on the crossover vehicle providing multimedia through a seven-inch touchscreen.
