2013 Chevrolet Avalanche trims

2013 Avalanche

2013 marks the final year for the Chevrolet Avalanche. Chevrolet is commemorating the truck by designating the 2013 models "Black Diamond" editions. This means that they will have attractive body colored bed surrounds and additional features on the LS and LT models. The LS and LT now come standard with a rear camera, while the LS also includes parking assist, a remote starter, power adjustable pedals and fog lamps. Prices have also been lowered across the board.

2007 Chevrolet Avalanche trims

2007 Avalanche

The Chevy Avalanche, completely redesigned for 2007, is based on GM's new, full-size SUV platform. It features more power and fuel economy, a leaner and more agile looking design, a refined interior, and more safety equipment. All 2007 Avalanche engines offer Active Fuel Management and variable valve timing, and the ability to run on E85, a renewable fuel consisting of 15% gasoline and 85% ethanol. Inside, by lowering the instrument panel and deepening the windshield, the Avalanche's interior is roomier, airier, and more comfortable. In addition, the redesigned Avalanche has more substantial seats with easier entry. Avalanche can be configured with a full safety system of occupant protection and crash-avoidance technology including available head curtain side air bags and standard StabiliTrak stability control system with rollover mitigation technology. Warranty coverage is increased for 2007, with a new five-year or 100,000-mile powertrain warranty that's fully transferable and includes roadside assistance for the full period. The ¾ ton Avalanche and 8.1L V8 engine were discontinued for the 2007 model year.

About Avalanche

Similar to a crew cab in design, the Avalanche featured a series of unique styling details. Introduced for the 2002 model year, the biggest selling point of the truck was innovative storage features. The Avalanche allowed longer cargo loads to fit by opening the vehicle's Midgate and folding down the rear seating. A pair of Top-Box Storage compartments was also part of the cargo options presented to Chevrolet Avalanche owners. When the Midgate was not opened, up to six passengers fit inside the four-door truck's cabin. The 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche was presented with two Vortex V-8 powerplant options. A 1500 level variant featured a 285-horsepower 5.3-liter V-8 while an Avalanche 2500 model came with a 340-horsepower 8.1-liter engine was available.

Both engines were mated to a four-speed automatic transmission and could be equipped with rear-wheel or four-wheel drivetrains (the Avalanche 2500 would be offered only in four-wheel drive in 2004). A massive refresh was contacted on the Chevrolet Avalanche for the 2007 model year. Phasing out the contrast colored body cladding, the 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche received a more mature, sophisticated exterior look. The interior also received some stylistic improvements such as more room and better designed controls. A new 366-horsepower 6.0-liter V-8 became the top performance powerplant for the Avalanche.

This larger powerplant was discontinued following the 2009 model year. In 2007, the Chevrolet truck's 5.3-liter engine was also introduced with an E85 compatible version. For 2009, a smoother six-speed automatic gearbox replaced the four-speed transmission. Production of the Chevrolet Avalanche concluded during the 2013 model year with a commemorative Black Diamond badged model.
