2010 Bentley Continental GT trims

2010 Continental GT

Bentley adds a completely new Continental to the stable this year, the Supersports model. It boasts of being the fastest Bentley ever produced, with a top speed over 200 mph and a 0-60 mph time under 4 seconds. This comes from being lighter than its Continental siblings and a new "Quickshift" transmission that Bentely promises halves shift times. It's also the first Bentley that will be capable of running on gasoline or biofuels, like E85. Bentley also added two new Speed models in the summer of 2009, the Continental GTC Speed convertible and the Flying Spur Speed. These editions are much the same as the base GTC convertible and Flying Speed, but they've been tuned for higher performance.

2008 Bentley Continental GT trims

2008 Continental GT

Bentley's Continental GT boasts subtle design and mechanical changes for 2008, and it sheds 77 pounds. Front end styling has been revised; the grille is now more upright, the bumper sits lower and contains a wider air intake, and the quad headlights carry a new design. Engine internals have been changed as well, and while the W12 still puts out 552 horsepower, it does so with a new camshaft chain, new crankcase, and a new engine management system, which reduces fuel consumption and emissions. The car also features several minor tweaks to the chassis, steering, and suspension systems, and a "Sport Traction" mode has been added to the traction control system. New standard features in the GT as well as the GTC convertible include Sirius satellite radio, a better Bluetooth system, an embossed "B" in the brake pedal, and a new Breitling clock. New options include carbon-ceramic brakes, a three-spoke steering wheel, a backup camera, and several new colors. Perhaps most importantly, the GT has also been severely tweaked to create another model--the GT Speed. The Speed gets 602 horsepower from the W12 thanks to a host of internal engine changes, including new pistons, connecting rods, and timing chain. The Speed wears a darker front grille and rides lower than the standard GT. It also uses an improved, faster Servotronic steering system, which can be put to use on the way to the car's top speed of 202 mph.

About Continental GT

A revolutionary step for the Bentley brand in style and technology, the Continental GT was formally introduced in 2003. Remaining priced as an exotic car, the Bentley Continental GT was valued at a level that made the car less expensive than the previous Continental R. Debuting as a coupe in 2003, the Bentley Continental GT was powered by twin-turbocharged, 6.0-liter W-12 engine generating 552 horsepower.

The engine of the Continental GT was paired with a standard six-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive system. Despite the 5,181-pound curb weight, the 2003 Bentley Continental GT could accelerate from 0 to 62 miles per hour in 4.8 seconds. In 2006, the Bentley Continental GTC presented a drop-top version of the vehicle. Equipped with lavish interior touches, the 2006 Bentley Continental GT featured dual-zone climate control as well as the use of high-grade leather and wood trim. The navigation system of the Bentley Continental GT was updated to a DVD-based unit in 2007 and Bluetooth was added.

In 2008, the Bentley Continental GT Speed model was introduced with a high-performance edge. Along with engine power being boosted to 600 horsepower, the 2008 Bentley Continental GT Speed also featured a lower stance coupled with a sport-tuned suspension, special 20-inch wheels on Pirelli tires and a Dynamic mode as part of the electronic stability program. The Speed trim option was expanded to the Continental GTC in 2010. Bentley also introduced a Series 51 customization package for the Continental GT coupe and convertible for the 2010 models.
