New for 2018:BMW

For the 2018 model year, BMW introduces a completely redesigned X3 SUV, new M5 performance sedan, 6 Series Gran Turismo model based on the 5 Series platform, freshened 2 Series and 4 Series lineups, and an expanded 5 Series lineup. Rumors also include a new 8 Series and M8 lineup, as well as an i8 Spyder model. The 6 Series Coupe is cancelled for 2018.

Additionally, BMW makes a reversing camera and BMW ConnectedDrive Services standard equipment on all of its models, metallic paint is less expensive this year, and stand-alone navigation system options now include real-time traffic and Remote Services. The company also introduces a new stair-step option package and option availability structure for nearly all of its models.

2018 BMW 2 Series/M2

  • New LED headlights, fog lights, and taillights are standard
  • Revised dashboard with new instrumentation debuts
  • Redesigned standard wheels for 230i and M240i models
  • Versions with navigation receive iDrive 6.0 with touch-sensing display
  • Power-adjustable front seats included on the 230i
  • Active cruise control with stop-and-go capability available for 230i
  • Adaptive LED headlights are available
  • New wood trim interior selections and exterior color choices

2018 BMW 3 Series/M3

  • LED headlights and fog lights are standard
  • Navigation includes iDrive 6.0 and a touch-screen display
  • New 19-in. wheel option with M Sport package
  • New Shadow Sport Edition includes black wheels, blacked-out exterior elements, sport leather steering wheel, and available dark carbon aluminum interior trim
  • Illuminated M badge on M3 seats takes on slightly different appearance
  • M3 offered with new 20-in. forged aluminum wheel option, painted black
  • Available Cognac Brown leather
  • New paint color: Sunset Orange

2018 BMW 4 Series/M4

  • Retuned suspension and improved steering for better driving dynamics
  • Minor styling updates and new aluminum wheel designs
  • Upgraded interior trim and a standard sport steering wheel
  • Standard LED headlights and taillights
  • Optional adaptive LED headlights
  • Navigation adopts iDrive 6.0 technology with touch-screen display
  • Available Wi-Fi hotspot, Apple CarPlay, and wireless charging pad
  • Executive package adds configurable dynamic digital instrumentation with various display themes
  • M4 gains illuminated M emblems on the front seats
  • M4 with the optional Competition package now available with 20-in. forged aluminum wheels painted black
  • New Midnight Blue, White, and Cognac leather selections
  • New paint colors: Snapper Rocks Blue and Sunset Orange

2018 BMW 5 Series/M5

  • Lineup expands to include 530e iPerformance plug-in hybrid, M550i xDrive, and M5 performance variants
  • The 530e iPerformance makes 248 horsepower, 310 lb.-ft. of torque, and has a reported estimate of 30 miles of electric driving range
  • Briefly, the M550i was the fastest 5 Series ever, accelerating to 60 mph in less than 4 seconds
  • New M5 boasts a twin-turbocharged, 4.4-liter V-8 engine, an 8-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission with paddle shifters and Drivelogic control, and a performance version of xDrive with a rear-drive mode
  • Dynamic Handling package is new for 530e iPerformance and 530i models, with active damping suspension, M Sport brakes, and active steering (530i only)
  • Luxury Seating package adds premium Nappa leather
  • BMW Individual super-premium Merino leather and trim upgrades debut
  • Buyers can now choose a leather-wrapped dashboard and a simulated suede headliner as options

2018 BMW 6 Series/M6

  • 6 Series Coupe is cancelled, leaving convertible and Gran Coupe variants
  • M Sport package offers access to carbon fiber interior trim, and an exclusive 20-in. forged aluminum wheel design
  • New paint color: Sonic Speed Blue

2018 BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo

  • Replacement for the 5 Series Gran Turismo, moved up a rung on the BMW model ladder but based on the 5 Series sedan platform
  • Offered solely as the 640i xDrive with a turbocharged 6-cylinder engine, an 8-speed automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive
  • 5-door hatchback body style adds ride height, raised seating positions, and extra utility
  • Maximum cargo space measures 65 cu. ft.
  • Standard Sport package; optional Luxury package and M Sport package

2018 BMW 7 Series

  • Minor option package changes accompany the 7 Series into the 2018 model year
  • Alpina B7 gains a standard parking assistant and a surround-view camera

2018 BMW i3

  • No additional changes aside from those applied to all 2018 BMW models

2018 BMW i8

  • A rumored i8 Spyder is expected to arrive for 2018 or 2019, expanding the plug-in hybrid sports car’s lineup

2018 BMW X1

  • No additional changes aside from those applied to all 2018 BMW models

2018 BMW X3

  • BMW completely redesigns the X3 for 2018
  • Turbocharged 4-cylinder engine in X3 xDrive30i
  • Turbocharged 6-cylinder engine in X3 M40i
  • Both engines paired with an 8-speed sport automatic transmission
  • BMW reports 8 ins. of ground clearance and 19.6 ins. of water fording depth
  • Standard xLine design package; optional Luxury package and M Sport package
  • Improved technologies, including available 10.25-in. iDrive display with gesture control and a substantially larger head-up display
  • Cargo capacity expands from 28.7 cu. ft. to 62.7 cu. ft. by folding the rear seat

2018 BMW X4

  • No additional changes aside from those applied to all 2018 BMW models

2018 BMW X5/X5 M

  • New 8-speed sport automatic transmission is standard on most versions
  • Plug-in hybrid X5 xDrive40e iPerformance gets transmission paddle shifters
  • Restyled exhaust outlets for xDrive35i, xDrive35d, and xDrive50i
  • With M Sport package, new 21-in. wheels are available

2018 BMW X6/X6 M

  • New 21-in. wheel upgrade is available in conjunction with the M Sport package
  • Revised exhaust outlet design for xDrive35i
